Hypothetically, blue dial post 2015 mint dealer will sell at 45 and buy at 40? I have literally never sold anything (hoarder) so I am clueless on the wholesale/retail delta.

I’m not sure there is a consensus that vintage is the way to go.

On balance, I’d take a modern Patek any day. Of course there are exceptions - 3700, 5070 and 5970 being the obvious ones, and of those only 1 is pre 1995. But other than that, nah, modern any day for me.

I love mine, but more at the previous retail. I wouldn't justify paying that much over for anything. There aren't many watches under 50k that sing to me more that aren't a difficult to acquire PP Naut, PC/AC, 5170.. etc.

A Platinum Datograph would be very tempting.

You didn't do too badly by picking up the 5711's RG cousin.

Probably ballpark. Like anything it depends. The dealer might have a buyer waiting and offer more.

Is the 5711 really a $48,000 Watch?

For the new people that make over $500,000 a year.....

Have no relationship with the AD and wanting a watch right away without spending on other pieces they don't want at the AD.....

Do they really pay $48,000.....

No that price is negotiable....... Unless that person is $hi77ing money then they don't care....

I have friends who flipped their Daytona/BLNR/Hulk/SD at above MSRP to get the Nautilus/Aquanaut at above MSRP.

Why not?

Yep, easy trade.

Another option is trading out value trap stuff to get one. I think dealers are getting wise to this though.

To me it was barely worth $25k a few years ago when it was not too difficult to acquire.
When the price went up to $30, at first I said screw it but I am on a waitlist for the white 5711 and will probably buy it if I get the call.

I can’t say I’m new to the Nautilus love as I’ve been dreaming of it for several years.
I have seen and tried on blue 5711’s and a 3712 but have yet to see a white 5711 in the metal.

I’m sure the hype makes me want it even more but no way I’m paying more than retail.
I’m a patient person. I finally got my white 116500 last year and that will bide my time in the wait.

I’m on the list for a GMT Pepsi in stainless and if I get that at retail, I could consider flipping it in trade towards a gray market 5711 but only if my total out of pocket doesn’t exceed the retail on the 5711.

My impatience for the 5711 has made me consider other Patek’s which is probably exactly what Patek wants. And although I won’t go gray market for an over priced 5711, I have been considering buying a gray market Calatrava 5227 or 5296 as they are selling around 33% off (albeit used).

If you want a blue 5711 unless you have connections you cant buy one, so for some the premium is worth it. Look at the car market, limited production cars like the LaFerrari, Porsche GT2rs etc are going well over list, same deal.
These posts aren't about hating the 5711, they are about hating not having purchased one three years ago for half what they're going for now. They're about hating having missed out and hating people who can still get one at list.

Personally, I’d rather have the sealed 5167 Tiffany piece for 66K at European Watch...

Place a WTB ad here on TRF and see how low resellers are willing to go. Placed a WTB here a year or so ago and got a great deal on a DD40. Even my AD was a bit shocked at how good a deal i got. :)

I know the MSRP is much less but difficult to get a hold of. Just kind of curious what people are currently actually paying for them.

Sold a 2016 recently for just slightly over $46.000

Yeah, but I'm not needing or looking to buy. I have one already. I just hadn't been paying any attention to the actual market but since I do frequent the forum from time to time I read how the price was so high I was just curious what the actual price was. Now I know.

Comparing finishing to an Overseas 4500V or a Royal Oak 15400/15202 it's not even worth the MSRP. Everything it does better is that it's a Patek!

If we didn’t want one for 22, why would we want one for 45? If it’s the profit, there have been a lot of ways to double up over the last 3 years.

i really like it. Its about if its worth market prices. Like the million daytona threads. Both are great watches in their respective categories and i wouldn't pay the going rate for either.

retail price vs market price is an entirely different value judgment and is separate from the discussion on the merits of the actual watch. Its possible to like the watch and want to buy it, but only at certain prices. That isnt hate

It's priced correctly according to Patek.

It's a £20k watch because its SS and it's a 3 hander.

People paying £40k are idiots imho.

I'm on the list at my AD, it could come in tomorrow, it could come in in 3 years time - but for me it's the excitement of waiting. I will not pay a penny over retail though.

Folks paying £40k for this model when you can get a pre owned perpetual for that money... The mind boggles.

If you have a NOS full box/papers 5711 blue in your hand now, how much would you list and sell it for? 15k, 25k, 35k or 45k?

This will be the "worth" of the watch, to the seller at least.
