Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual ultra thin.

I'm considering buying the Perpetual ultra think on the gold bracelet. I can't get the watch out of my head. I am worried about resale if in the future I get tired of it. I don't have any experience with vc, what type of discount should I ask for to protect myself.

Gorgeous. Honestly if resale is a serious consideration I would entertain AP. A watch like that probably resells 50% off and even then the buyer pool will be tiny.

Buy it pre owned, you won’t loose money (or not that much).

Currently there isn't any pre-owned on the market. I been looking. New Grey's are around 73k

A great point, regarding ap I find the vc is more appealing visually to me, especially that silver cream dial.

Value retention is not a feature of VC, especially that watch. It will lose value out the gate. Nothing we say or do will change that.

So what's your estimate of loss 50percent? As a used watch?

I don't know. If value retention is your concern, I would go with Patek or AP. But I know they cost a lot more. If you can afford that expensive VC, maybe value retention should NOT be a major concern.

I totally understand. That’s a really good looking watch. Don’t compromise! If you want an idea ask some major greys what they would pay for one preowned. I’m guessing most would say not interested. They aren’t buying much now.

It's a gorgeous watch and I'm considering one too, but if something else catches your eye and you decide to sell, you'll likely get wrecked. The drop-off could easily be 50%, and if it's not, it'll be a minimum of 30% right off of the bat. That being said, sometimes you just want a watch and don't care, and if that's the case, then go for it. Going grey might be your best bet if you want the best possible price on this one as it doesn't seem that ADs really want to move on anything right now, even stuff like this that isn't overly popular. I asked about a discount on the Overseas Tourbillon and was told that they could do something, but that it was unclear how much because margins (percentage-wise) on these pieces for ADs are relatively small.

I'd target 25% off and see what happens. Greys are already listing them at 15% off, and there's definitely room to move. Try ADs first and see if anyone wants to work with you, and if not, the grey market is always there. If you're interested in anything tough to get from Rolex or Patek, this would be fantastic leverage.

Big Congratulations!! Great to see you've pulled the trigger on the Beauty.. I've been blown away by my Overseas 4500V since I've had it, 3 weeks now and cant wear anything else. Looking at your pic Its such a stunning piece and so amazing how VC fit those complications into that 'Ultra Thin' case.
Love it...

The easy strap change is my favorite part. That should be standard, period.

Yes, that really needs to be standard on all watches.

Congrats, that's absolutely stunning! Also, how big's your wrist? It looks like it fits great! I haven't been able to try one on yet so I'm trying to gauge how the size is from others in the meantime.

Amazing VC, one of my favourites. Suits you as well!

I hope they make something similar in steel or platinum, I'd be down for that.

Congrats ! You've probably made the right choice.
VC Overseas is by far the most refreshing luxury sport watch nowadays. And this Perpetual Calendar...whoa !
Suits you very well !

I love threads that start 'I'm thinking of buying an amazing watch....' and then BAM! You buy it - I have the same level of impatience!

What a superb watch to own. The very apex of horology on your wrist made even more special by the thinness of the movement and beauty of the strap. Great that you can switch to rubber or leather whenever suits.

Perpetual calendars are the holy grail (to me at least) of mechanical watches. Anyone fascinated by movements will enjoy seeing this watch - the movement is a thing of beauty.

Perhaps you will become a 'one watch' guy and keep it forever? It's such an incredible watch, I doubt you could possibly get tired of it.
