Please help, EBay dispute!!

Hi all,

Back in July 2019, I purchased a jubilee bracelet from EBay, clasp code H2, with 455 endlinks. The clasp code and end links meant the bracelet was in the early 80s. I then sold the bracelet on eBay in December 2019 at a loss, but I didn’t have the need for the bracelet anymore. After the buyer received the bracelet, he claimed one of the end links did not fit properly and sent me some pictures with the bracelet on the his watch. I could immediately see that the watch has rehaut and therefore no holes in the case. He wanted me to refund some money to him so he could get the correct endlink. I was at a loss already and didn’t want to lose anymore money, so I offered a full refund to take my bracelet back. That was the last I heard from him.

So today I got a notice from eBay stating he had requested a return due to the bracelet not being genuine. He claimed his jeweler had ran a strong magnet over the center links and that they were gold plated and not solid gold. Whatever. My question here is could he had taken off the bracelet without damaging it? Included is the pic he sent me, you can clearly see the rehaut.

The bezel does not match the case. He has a 4 or 5 digit bezel on a 6 digit case

The X and R engravings on the rehaut don't line up with the roman indices.

Wow I see that now, the case just sticks out from under the bezel..crazy...

Is there any way to remove the 455 endlinks without damaging them?

Tell Ebay, of course the bracelet doesn't fit the Rolex he's trying to fit it on is fake.

His claim with them as the reason to return the bracelet is that he brought the watch to the jeweler and the guy said the bracelet is gold plated, he ran a strong magnet over it and the center links reacted.

Rollied, are you sure that's your bracelet in the photograph he sent you? The inner surface of the endlink in the caliper looks rusty. He may be planning to "return" his fake bracelet to you and keep yours.

Here’s are some pics I have taken of the bracelet when posting on ebay. That’s a good eye on the rust. I have a feeling he’s gonna send me a bracelet that’s not mine.

Wow, not the same bracelet for sure. Whats the feedback rating for the buyer? The one he photographed is super stretched too.

He’s 100% positive and long history, like 20 years on eBay. But from the watch he posted, seems he’s not really a Rolex person.

I don’t think that’s the same bracelet. Good eye spotting that huge Ding! Did yours have a Ding? If not he damaged it or it’s a different bracelet. Either way, no way I let him get away with that.

It might not be his call. eBay/Paypal is known to do a full refund for the buyer and just deduct out of your account without much recourse.

From all the nightmare posts I've read here, PayPal is pretty easy to game and if you're determined enough, you can get away with a lot of money and/or merchandise.

Yeah but eBay has your complete prior listing with pictures. Ask them to compare his pictures of the bracelet he is going to return with your pictures of the one that was sold. Tell them you’re concerned about him swapping out your real one for a fake one since his watch is fake too. Yes eBay has a bunch of buyer protections but they make their money from sellers and they want to keep them happy too.

That is likely possible.

But the buyer can always claim the bracelet he received didn’t match the OP’s listing photos to begin with.

OP: you are simply in a bad situation. It’s possible you’ll get a replica Jubilee in the mail (perhaps the one he got when buying his replica DJ). Then you file a counterclaim of him doing so.

Have you searched his feedback to ID a possible purchase of a fake DJ? If he was buying the bracelet on eBay then he might have purchased the DJ on eBay, too.

oh the old switcheroo game he is trying to pull on you !!

he is going to keep your genuine bracelet, run the same scam with another DJcase and voila, he gets a real Rolex by scamming couple of ppl here and there.
100% tell Ebay that you feel suspicious about NOT receiving your original item

I'd love to see the underside of the band the seller is claiming to be the Rollie's. I bet it is noticeably different. This is precisely why shopping the buyer is a great idea but that can be difficult to do. I hope this issue is resolved in a just manner and that Rollie get his band back AND that Karma serves justice to the buyer.

He wants to swap his fake for your genuine bracelet, when you get the fake and you complain, he will say "see I told you it was fake you agree". Even if it was gold plated, a magnet will not attract Stainless Steel. so that is total BS.
