It's allocation season. Just got my email from Harlan. Their prices keep going up! But I guess that's like anything these days.

My first allocation was for 2017 which I purchased for $850 per bottle (pack of 3). 2018 was offered at the same price point but they increased 2019 to $1,000 and now the 2020 is being offered at $1,150. Include tax and shipping and you're just shy of $1,300 per bottle.

I am also on the Colgin and Scarecrow lists as well, and they seem a bit more "reasonable" at $500 per bottle.

I'll probably get the three, but it's getting harder to justify!

Thanks,
dr

Prices are on the rise for sure. You have excellent taste in vineyards. However, I agree it's not easy to justify. Let them sleep 8-10 year and enjoy, IMHO.

I'm only on the Harlan list to secure the second growth Maidens. Even those are now $500 per bottle. I think its a pass for me from now on. Starting to get absurd particularly given it looks like the 2020s are likely to be smoke tainted.

This one was better then I expected, it was a complimentary bottle from the four seasons and is pretty good!

A double magnum of Silver Oak to celebrate my wife’s retirement and my 60th birthday with friends. We’re making braised short ribs, polenta, and brussel sprouts to go with it for dinner.

Wow, that’s a rare bottle Roger !
Congratulations on your birthday and wife’s retirement, that could go another 15 years easily if stored correctly, which I’m sure you’ve done. What a great vintage that was too

I hope you all enjoy it immensely on this special occasion -

As a side note for my daughters graduation from UNLV School of Dental Medicine in May 2022 we opened up her favorite 2012 40th Anniversary Liter of Caymus and a .750 2013 Insignia to go with a very tasty Osso Buco on top of risotto. The waiter was kind enough not charge corkage for either bottle And thank god she was offered a unbelievable job in September 2022, now she’s off my payroll finally and works 5 miles from me

Oh yeah, it could have been cellared much longer but this was a special occasion and the friends that came over also have a cellar, so we knew they’d appreciate it.

Congrats on your daughter’s graduation from dental school! Sounds like a great evening.
