Lake Tahoe Recommendations

My wife and I are kicking around the idea of spending a week at Lake Tahoe next summer with the kids. We have both never been there and “internet research” has been futile to say the least. Please give your recommendations on where to stay and what to do. TIA!

Tahoe Recommendation

Unless you're into gambling, steer well clear of the south shore and it's attendant crowds. Stick to the north or west shore, or better yet, Incline Village.

Lake Tahoe has several resort areas around its shores.

South Lake Tahoe is the tourist area, and to the north is Incline Village, a renowned ski resort.

South Lake Tahoe is in California while Incline Village is in Nevada.

Some folks stay in Reno which is 20 miles north of the Lake

Part of South Lake Tahoe is in Nevada and part is in California. Same for North Lake Tahoe.

My friend Ben Cartwright had a big spread up there.

There's no reason of bash the south shore. I lived at the lake for over 30 years. My kids still live there. I can say with all certainty that Incline Village traffic in the summer is no better than any of the $hit shows that go on in any of the population centers around the lake.

We stay at the grand residence in the heavenly village. They have a two bedroom that’s huge. We have been staying there for almost 10 years.

I’ve been to Tahoe many time, North shore and south. Mostly South shore when I was younger. I think it is one of the most spectacular places in the world. The lake a surrounding resorts are incredible.

I love Lake Tahoe. Been going there for 40 years with my family but only in the winter. North or South shore are great. I may retire there. Rafting on the Truckee river would definitely be something I’d do in the summer.
