Thinking a out grabbing a DJ, opinions please

I'm thinking of grabbing a 16220 SS black faced DateJust with the Oyster styled bracelet. It has box and papers, Y serial, and in great shape and it's $2400.
I would get it for my GF to wear, and soon give it to my son for his first Rolex later this year or next year.
Is this a good price for it? Does this sound like a dumb idea, or has anyone done anything like this?
Thanks

sounds ok to me... price seems fair... just do your homework, bring the watch to someone to verify its authentic... I have given a lady Datjust diamond bezel to a girlfriend...

Very nice thought, very generous. Price is fair (IMOP). If its in good condition go for it.

Fair Price, you are not getting a "deal" while not getting "shafted"

Is your GF going to feel okay about that? I'd find it a little odd to be a transitional wearer vs. getting a gift, myself, but you know your people.

Sounds good to me as long as your GF is ok with it As for the price I have no idea but I would certainly have it opened by a qualified AD to confirm all is as it should be
