Im excited to look at them when I got to get my iPad fixed or trade it in. The camera features are the rear factor for me.. But more importantly, I need to look for a sturdy case!

Got the 14 pro yesterday. Not leaps and bounds ahead of the 13 pro, but the improvements are nice. Still getting used to the always on screen. Like the new dynamic Island. I think they did a good job making use of the notch. Other than that it’s just “the most magical iPhone yet”

Having an 14 Pro Max delivered today, upgrading from an 11 Pro Max. Pretty sure I'm going to miss the slimmer profile of the 11, but hoping the camera and processor upgrades make it worth it.

When you say the improvements are nice, are you referring to the display? The speed of the apps?

I have the 13 pro, couldn’t care less about the improvements in the camera as mine takes pictures good enough for my purposes, but would be willing to pay for an upgrade in the display and/or performance.

Check out Marques Brownlee, his reviews are very well done and very easy watching. Lots of good info here.

https://youtu.be/SdLShOCvVeM

Fast forward to 19:45 for the wrap up. In short, if you have the ios 16 software, its not really worth the upgrade.

Curious as to how big your hands are (like glove size???). I really wanted the Pro Max but I could not even keep ahold of it one handed and I am a large size 9 glove hand.

So many bugs with this phone, I am thinking of cancelling my order, it looks like a real lemon. The vibrating camera looks awful on some videos I have seen.

Issues with car play phone calls.
Camera Vibration.
Slow camera app
GPS broken
Excessive copy and paste prompts.

Interesting

Got my 14 Pro on Saturday. Had a 13 Pro.

Not yet connected to car play, but I've not experienced any of the other issues mentioned.

The camera upgrades alone are significant. Add the new, brighter, always on, widget customisable display and its a no brainer.

Extremely happy with it so far

How was the transfer from the 13 to the 14, that was another problem that has been noted?

Enjoy your new phone, I must admit, I am still on the fence whether to cancel it. I have a 13 Pro.

the constant copy and paste prompt is a bug with the os not the phone. for the others, maybe you got unlucky and the later batches will be better but most seem fixable with a software update (whenever that comes)

Like I mentioned not leaps and bounds above the 13 Pro in terms of performance. It’s a very fast phone, everything loads instantly without any lag. The screen is similar to the 13 pro but is brighter. The smoothness of the 120hz is the same. One of the biggest differences is the always on display. It’s great to glance over and see your notifications while the phone is on your desk, couch, etc. I wear an Apple Watch mostly through the day so I have my notifications handy anyway but this is a nice addition. The dynamic island is a neat trick to try to hide the notch. I think it is very well implemented and probably not going away any time soon. The cameras are top notch. Bright photos are bright and beautiful and dark photos are mostly bright and beautiful. With that said, I never complained about the 13 cameras as they were fantastic as well.

Overall the 13 to the 14 wasn’t a huge jump, but year to year it usually isn’t. If I could do it again, maybe I’d skip the 13 and go to the 14 from the 12 which had the slower and less smooth screen while scrolling.

Bottom line if you like iPhones and use yours all day like me it’s the best one yet in my opinion.

Fwiw I haven’t had any of the issues mentioned online.

I haven't got the phone yet, but the bugs I described seem widespread. The main one is the camera vibrations, it vibrates so much that one has to wonder if it is damaging the internals, in which case it becomes a hardware issue. The others, like you say, will probably be fixed with a software update. Having said that, one shouldn't be paying over a 1000 for an item that doesn't work until firmware fixes are released.

None of the reported issues noticed so far. 14 Pro upgraded from an 11 Pro.

Main gripe I have at the moment is that only a fraction of my music came over from the old phone. Not sure why this even an issue.

Literally just got it, and we are setting it up right now. Haven’t used it yet. We got it for the emergency GPS features. I think my last one is a 9.

Separately, I have to say that the features on the new Apple Watch are very impressive. I’ve seen a few of their commercials in the past few days.

Well I'm finally back from my 10 day vacation and my new phone was waiting for me. I'm sure it's going to be a considerable upgrade from my current iPhone X to the 14 Pro Max. I'm going to set it up this afternoon after my work schedule eases a bit, most excited for better camera for watch pictures.

Only issue I'm having now (music was sorted) is that my car's USB port for Carplay ('22 Outback) doesn't seem to provide adequate juice to charge the phone. It'll hold, but won't increase charge.

if you're actively using the phone while it's plugged in, like using google maps or waze, a usb usually doesn't charge fast enough to outpace the drain done by your phone being on the entire time. usb charging is really slow especially the higher the % goes, so you'll just see the % stay flat pretty much, or very slowly inching up

You were right, a couple (if not all) of these are being addressed with updates and will be sorted shortly. I think I will keep my phone on order (Between 3rd and 10 Oct).

iOS 16.0.2 has been released and addresses a lot of the issues.

Didn't work the first time - but no issues when trying a second time.

Interestingly, however, immediately asked for an update to IOS 16.0.1 and its literally updating now to 16.0.2

To me, an iPhone is nothing more than an appliance. I have a 2018 SE (or 2019, or something like that), and I work in tech. Does everything I need, and processor and memory should allow me a few more software upgrade cycles.

Was at a happy hour on Wednesday and people were showing off their new phones. About as interesting as showing off new toasters.

If you need it and use the extra whatever, more power to you (figuratively and literally). I will upgrade when forced to or something revolutionary comes out that I need a new phone to run.

Still smokin', Paul??
