Incoming Armando Simoni Club Bologna Extra
I have been waiting on this on since June and was able to get in on the ground floor at the introductory price. They finally started releasing them several months ago, but mine just came into to the ASC store.
I own the ASC in Ogiva Arco Brown and it is gorgeous. It is also an oversized pen as is the Bologna. I think there will be a time shortly when the Arco rods are gone forever. I am already seeing several Omas FPs for sale that are breaking the $2000.00 price ceiling and saw a Omas 360 in Arco Brown sell for above $4000.00 earlier this year. There is no telling where these prices will go. They are wonderful writers and absolutely gorgeous! If you get a chance to pick one up please do. I don't think you will be sorry. Ever! ASC Bologna Extra The Ogiva!

Nice pick up Richard! I can't believe anyone would sell a brown arco out of their collection these days unless they had several

That's a great looker Richard.
You say it is oversized in size, so how would it compare to say a Montblanc 149 in size? The nib looks quite flexible..so I imagine that you would get a nice variation in the writing width from one stroke to another.

It is heavier than my 149s and longer, but just a hail from being as wide. The weight of the pen takes some getting used to, but if you don't try to post it is very comfortable to write with. I don't like a really heavy pen in my pocket so this one will only be carried in one of my leather cases.

Aleo Omas was on the receiving end of a cease and desist order from the Bologna city government to stop making any celluloids due to the pollution they were creating in the city sewer system. At the time Omas was struggling financially and this was just another nail in the proverbial coffin. Emmanuel says he has a couple of hundred rods, but there is an extremely high rate of waste during the turning process due to cracked rods and so forth. Read between the lines, ASC will be lucky to create a high number of pens from their existing stock. The green Arco is the real rarity. It is really an uncommon thing to find a green Arco FP for sale anymore and I think it will be these pens that become the pinnacle for Omas collectors over the next few years.

By the way, I left a part of the story out that I really need to tell. I have to give my wife the credit for my having one of these pens.
Like I said last year I saw them and begin talking to her about getting one. She just held her mud and went behind the scenes and found out when my pen was going to hit the ASC offices and had it for me for Christmas! What more can I say! Even after 20 years, she is the great blessing of my life. Of that there is not doubt.

That's great information Richard
It's a pity these celluloid pens are no longer made any more. Similarly, I can't see Mont Blanc making a celluloid pen again...

I just noticed earlier today that these pens are disappearing.
If you think you might want one and can afford it I would humbly suggest that you go for it. In a year I would expect them to be 30% higher and in 2 years maybe as much as 70%. But that is just my take on them. I have to say that these ASC Bolognas are incredible in every regard. Quality workmanship on the verge of being perfect! I am contemplating on purchasing several more of them due toe their future rarity.

Like the Omas Arco Verde (green). Sold a couple of years back for about $600.00 and I am seeing them sell now for above $1700.00. And actually selling for that. Some fountain pens become collectables and have the attributes of such. Like the Montblanc Hemingway. Sold originally for what.... about $650.00 and today we are lucky to find them for under $2000.00 with all the accoutrements. But your are very correct that fountain pens are not investments as a whole and should be purchased to enjoy, not to turn a profit.
