Who here has never paid a cent over MSRP for a Rolex?

Curious to see how many people here have resisted the madness.

I am happy to report I have bought 2 Rolexes since 2016 at less than MSRP for both. An Explorer from a Grey and the grape OP from an AD with discount.

Haven’t paid over explicitly

Have succumbed to bundle, seemed reasonable at the time

I bought all my watches at a grey dealer.

114060 bought in December 2012 with a 22% discount
116520 bought in January 2015 at MSRP
126334 bought in July 2017 with a 16% discount

I will never ever buy a watch at a price over MSRP.

Hi Folks

I have never paid a cent over MSRP. I have the BLRO Pepsi, AP Royal Oak, Bluesy - 116613LB and PAM 104, GMT II 11613LN, on the waitlist for GMT Root Beer. Don’t have experience of Daytona’s, not a watch for me personally.

Here is what one needs to understand, my take:
1. Be patient and get on the list and be nice to the AD folks. Visit often and show your passion for watches it helps, visit multiple AD’s if needed. Something will give...
2. For TT’s buy secondary, they don’t retain value or go over MSRP. Chrono24 with Escrow is a great option.
3. For PAM, Omega etc. you will get discounts right off the bat - over 20% for even the limited edition one’s.

When I say this people kind of make fun of me.
i had access to 4 hot SS rolex models in an 8 months timeframe from Rolex boutique I had 0 purchase history with.
Your tips make wonders but unfortunately of fortunately, many think Grey is the only way to obtain an SS rolex.

I HAVE paid over retail by a considerable amount for my 126710 BLRO but justified it as I sold something that I had got at retail for double what I paid.

Never paid over MSRP at a Rolex AD. The best discount I got was roughly 20% for a DJ.

Those are both nice watches, got to handle the grape OP a few days ago and the dial is beautiful, a must see in person.

I’ve only bought at msrp or by less.

But I’ve only bought two watches, and neither of them are hot models.

I think it is silly to pay over msrp, but that depends on your financial situation.

It is silly to me today, but if I was wealthy, I wouldn’t wait a year or two for something I really wanted.

So I think it depends...

It’s not exactly black or white

Multiple purchases of popular Rolex models over last couple of years. All new, many below msrp, never above and all no tax. Relationships matter in all facets of life.

I've only bought one Rolex. I paid MSRP and don't plan to ever pay more than that for any future purchases.

I paid 350,000 cents over MSRP for my SD4K a few months ago. If only I'd had the play money to afford it when it was selling at a discount off AD shelves...

I paid the exact msrp for my 14060 as listed in the 1996 Rolex catalogue when I bought it new in 1996 (those were the days!). I will not go gray or pay over retail for any watch, but that's just my personal view on things...

I got both of mine from grey and paid MSRP. Never over or any discount. I'm good with that.

I have never paid a premium for any of my watches, in fact, I received a small discount on my BLNR when it first came out.

Small potatoes, but purchased a 214270 and a 114060 from ADs in the last 14 months. No bundling, no nonsense. Sometimes it pays to live in the sticks.
