Thoughts on Explorer 2 Polar

Hi TRF family,

Can you share your thoughts on the Polar Explorer 2 42mm.

I have a smaller wrist so interested to know how it would wear in relation to my 114060.

It’s the right amount of funky with the orange and I love the GMT function

Any and all pics appreciated!

Thanks

I own both. I love both. The Explorer 2 Polar was my first Rolex.

Love mine and won’t part with it.

With the fixed SS bezel and large orange gmt hand, it’s totally unique in the Rolex line up.

I love mine. Its very different/cool watch with the white dial. I really think you need a 7 inch wrist or it will look too large..... ymmv

This watch is very intriguing to me...does anyone have pictures of it with a dress shirt? Can it be a dressy watch??

also have both.
the polar never ceises to amaze me, that crisp white dial is truly a beauty.. the orange adds that funkiness you mentioned, in a subtle way.
as far as comparison on the wrist, the polar seems a bit lighter (not sure of the actual weight comparison)
not as “chunky” id say.
whenever i have it on, it always excites me to look down at that white dial, especially when the lume catches me off guard!

I was considering buying it for awhile but ultimately it is too big for me. It wears big even for a 42mm due to the large white dial and protruding lugs of the bracelet. I wouldn't recommend it to smaller wrists. A lot of people praise the comfort due to the thinness and weight which is definitely a factor.

I have a 6.5 inch wrist and I think 7 inch plus would be best with this watch. That being said, the watch did fit my wrists but it was the limit of what it could tolerate.

Since you have a smaller wrist, I suggest that you try on the 16570 before you buy the newer reference.

I personally love mine, the white dial and orange 24 hour hand pop. I travel a lot too so the second TZ is a plus. My wrist is 7.25, it may be a bit large on a 6.5 wrist.

It's a great watch. I bought one new from an AD in 2013 but flipped it a year later because I thought it looked too big on my 6.75" wrist. I now think that was a huge mistake on my part and would consider giving it a second chance when/if the prices settle down again.

I owned the black version, traded for polar and traded again for black. I thought the polar looked too big or was too flashy or something. Really like black but I wear my 40mm sub more. In my opinion, it’s not ideal for a dress watch.

If you have a doubt, there is no doubt. For that sort of money you'll want to love it 100% before you buy it.

I love it. It was supposed to be my only Rolex, and from the whole range in 2018, the Polar was the obvious choice for me. I wanted a white dial watch with a reference time function. The fit, feel, wearing comfort, legibility and overall quality were considerably above my expectations.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it but I would hesitate to recommend to a stranger that they go out and buy one, based on what I think.

I just picked mine today and I’m super blown by it. Its so light on the wrist compared to my SD43 and the white dial makes it feel like a cocktail on a hot summer evening.

I do not wear with a dress shirt as I wear a very thin hand crank Nomos for that but here is a zoomed out pick to give a more realistic view of “how large” with my 6.5” wrist

A couple more photos to compare the Polar and 114060.

It is nice, but it always struck me as a young person's watch.
