Can a DayDate WG 1803 with 36mm case fit a Stainless Bracelet?
Hi all,
I have my eyes on purchasing a WG 1803 in Head Only sale. I do not want a gold bracelet. I like the 90's Oyster Stainless bracelets. I also think the color match would be close. In theory a 78360 bracelet with 558b end links could work. has anyone done this? Thank you, bigC |

I think that the DD on an Oyster bracelet is an interesting look:

IMO, don't do it. The metals will look different when right next to each other. Put it on a nice leather strap.

The only concern I had was how Stainless is harder than Gold.
Could the stainless End-Links against gold case over time be an issue. |

Yes, its the same reason you dont use stainless spring bars on a gold case. The stainless is harder than the gold and will wear into the gold over time.

If you are worried about the case getting scratched use thick clear wrap used to protect cars in between the lugs.I do this on my Tudor Marine Nationale when I wear it on a Bracelet.

The case is slightly thicker than a Datejust I believe.

It will not work with out modification.
The shape of the cases are different. The DD case extends past the bezel in between the lugs. The DJ case does not extend past the bezel. |

Get a WG president bracelet, although they are hard to find.
A ss bracelet will trash the case, it ll eat it out of it as steel is harder. Sometimes you see steel cases that have been damaged by the friction from the bracelet, over a few decades, especially when dirt gets there. Imagine a softer gold case!

I have a WG 1803 and I wouldn't have bought it without the bracelet, they're a pain in the neck to find separately, and any saving you'd get buying head only would be eaten up (and then some IMO) by the premium you'd pay for the bracelet later. As a personal example, I've been looking for a RG bracelet to match my 1012 for YEARS now and dunno if I'll ever come across one. I bet if I do, it'll cost me more than the watch head did!
Regarding using a SS jubilee on that 1803, (a) won't work wrong size ends (b) would wreck 18K lugs/case and (c) it'd look like snow tires on your Ferrari. If you wear Uggs with boy-shorts and a string vest or something, sure, but if you dress normally I think the look would clash. Wear it on strap or get the right bracelet is my recommendation. |
