that is nice, I'm on a quartz kick now, and new to this, but I gather these are comparable to the GS Quartz watches...

"...for example running errands with rowdy kids in just singlets and berms, basically unkempt and unglam."

How about one of the Scurfa Diver One's?

Inexpensive, grab-and-go, fun to wear watch.

Bought a blue Citizen BN2030-88L for everyday wear, knocking around and diving. What a stunner, I've had more comments on it in three months than on a Breitling B1 I had for 15 years.

Its actually a limited edition, only 1000 made for the Japan market commemorating a Japanese underwater research team.

A pretty unique piece thats built like a tank. Available on the interwebs for a little less than $500

I've been hearing some good reviews on the Timex piece with the red/blue bezel. Thoughts on that?

This was one of the first watches in my collection. I have the larger size. I’ve only worn it around the house a couple of times. I love that Princess Diana gifted such a relatively humble watch to her son and that he still wears it. It’s been discontinued for a while now and sure to endure as a collectible. Handsome watch actually.

Thanks for all the inputs.. sorry that the final outcome is not one of the suggestions. This watch called out to me the moment I tried it on.. along with other citizen Casio models.

The rubber is incredibly soft.. very comfortable

Seiko would seem the way to go, so much to choose from and at every price range from $50 up...

I have an old Omega Geneve for situations not suitable for my Rolex e.g. heavy night out, leaving it in a gym locker, travelling to non safe places ...
