Is this a good deal?
Hi guys, I hope this does not break any rules. I cannot see that it does as this watch is not listed for sale on here.
I've been offered this 2015 Submariner Date by a local private seller. I'm actually on the list at the local AD for the new SD but I have pretty small wrists so I'm almost certain a sub date would look better on my wrist, so I'm tempted by this. The seller is asking for $6,800, he is the second owner of the watch and the watch is rated by the seller at 8/10 condition due to a few minor dings on the bracelet. Is this a good price? I was thinking of negotiating down to $6,500 anyway. I can get one brand new from my local AD right now (it is in stock) for $8,150. |

Thanks guys, I've checked chrono24 and there doesn't appear to be much under $6,500 other than a couple from Russia or Turkey. I'll check the sales section on here.

I wouldn't pay that much for a literally "2nd" hand sub with wear on the bracelet. I guess it depends on your prices locally. (Bermuda?? I don't know the tax/import/vat rules there..) but $6800 is "new-territory" on chrono24.
Forget the SD by the way! If it's the new 43mm and you have small wrists. I have 6,3" and a Sub is really the maximum I can comfortably pull off. The 40mm sub wears LARGE! If you have 6,7"+ wrists then I guess the new SD will be ok |

Appreciate the replies. Unfortunately an imported watch would not work for me. Here in Bermuda, as we don't pay income tax, we have to pay huge import duties (otherwise the government would be broke!) so for watches this is 28% and every single package that comes into the country is individually inspected by customs agents. Even worse, if you bring an item in yourself through the airport it is 35% duty and very difficult to avoid as they inspect around 1 in 3 suitcases.

Thanks, going to give it a miss. Will wait for the AD to get the new SD in stock, if that looks too big on my wrist then I shall just get the sub date. This will be my first ever Rolex and would be nice to have my name on the papers!

But as you have seen above, from an international forum like this one, you have to keep in mind the pricing replies you get has to do with where the person is posting from (perhaps mostly U.S.), and the circumstances surrounding their location. Your own *local* market dictates what is a good deal and what is not a good deal for you.

Seems like someone took a cape cod to it. Keep searching until you find the 'right' deal.

It's a polishing cloth people sometimes use to remove fine scratches on their watches.

At 6800, you're not saving any real money on a watch that at best looks like it's been rode hard.
