Definitely option 2.

Steel and gold Daytona’s look stunning.

Ps I agree with someone else here. The steel Daytona makes no sense. Especially at its price. You could pick up a stunning white gold blue dial for similar money. And in your pics OP the gold one looks better! What’s not to like about gold sub dials and pushers, even the bezel. It stands out... unless your stuck in the 80s Wall Street mindset.

Yeah, I can't imagine someone buying the three just because. You'd have to like the watches on some level. Sorry, but paying double over MSRP for a watch you want that is still being made is bat shit crazy, even if you're flush. Not to suggest you've done this.

You have to go for the watch that sings to YOU. If I had to choose, I would go with option #2.

Get what you want. The watches in option 2 don't appeal to me, so I'd choose the SS Daytona. That said, I wouldn't pay over MSRP either.

116500 White Dial Daytona from Grey or These...

Pretty simple. No school required lol. If 3x is better than 1x then get it lol.

Rolex will change the Daytona ceramic up soon and release a jubilee.

I think I would have to roll with option two. I believe for an extra grand or so the Explorer could be a Submariner.

Or if you want ss, source a 116520 and the DJ.

The best option is to buy the SS Daytona new from an AD. We hear all the time here that dealers get 3 or 4 a year, so eventually an AD will deliver one to you.

If only that were true, all the ADs I know tell me they might get one Daytona a year at this point. Its why they are unavailable except used on-line.

Option 2 all the way! I am still not entirely sure why the 116503 isn't more popular given it's a spectacular two tone piece and the irrational exuberance surrounding the ceramic Daytona.

I believe dealers do typically get 3-4 per year. Can't see why they wouldn't. And I agree, if you want the SS Daytona, the best option is going through an AD.

For me neither but gun to my head I go for the D500, it's the watch I want most and that is always how I buy watches, not for the best deal.

Option two between these for me. But if I was dead set on the D500 I think I would wait it out with the AD. The grey price is simply a no go. I prefer other Daytona options at retail in PM for a little more.

Are three watches going to be as fulfilling as the one you want? I'd go option one as I'd rather have exactly what I wanted instead of quantity. But if the white Daytona isn't your dream watch or whatever then yeah option two. Except trade the Explorer for a Sub.

Out of all the TT Daytona's the White Dial is the best combination.

However, as some have said, I would prefer going for the exact watch you want. If you have the means/funds to do so, the price is the price... go for the 116500 if that is the grail. People get caught up on the fictitious MSRP price. MSRP is for those who can actually get it from the AD, if not you are simply limited to the secondary market. Find the best deal possible and go for it.

All quality watches. But quantity does not equal quality in everyone's collection.

Let me see...put this in a different perspective...with similar luxury and collectible items for the rich....

1 LaFerarri vs. 20 Tesla Model S?

Sorry, but I'll take the 1 LaFerarri over the 20 Tesla at any given day.

Of course, I'm sure there will be others who will take 20 Tesla over an iconic Ferrari. Basically, everyone has their own personal preferences. If it's the same analogy, LaFerrari will double 50 years from now....while Tesla will depreciated in value. Now, decision..decision..decision :)

Option 2. Not a fan of the 116500 and also not worth the asking 20-25k

Sorry, but that’s a ridiculous comparison. You must live on Mars.

Good comparison. Puts things into perspective.

For me option nr2, any day of the week.. Personally I don’t understand the hysteria surrounding the Daytona (ceramic). It’s a nice watch and all, but come on... :)

The steel and gold Daytona is stunning, indeed.

“1 LaFerarri over the 20 Tesla”...

Cheers,
Joe
