Going back to AD or RSC

Purchased new explorer from AD 9/11 saw this on the dial yesterday (has to be in perfect light to notice it), scuffs and looks like maybe fading on dial.... not happy.

RSC. Or you could take it to the AD and he will send it to the RSC. Looks like it needs a new dial and the AD is not going to do that for you.

It’s going back to the AD tomorrow and will be overnighted to RSC on Monday. Sucks to see it go but in normal light you would never notice it... my OCD self just had to start looking. Oh well new dial and hopefully coming back. AD stated to me that they have had turnaround time at 18-22 days. So fingers crossed.

If you send directly to RSC on warranty do they cover shipping to/from?

I called RSC NY spoke to them and informed them of the issue I found, they said to return to the AD have them ship it out. Called the AD (after sending an email with photos), and then spoke to them on the phone stated to bring the watch back, along with the warranty card and they would get it sent out.

Sucks but will be fixed in a few weeks and be back on the wrist. Hoping a full service won’t be required as it’s a brand new watch, but who knows what they will want to do.

Oh wow that is odd, I've never seen such discoloration on a new watch before. I'm very curious as to what the RSC will say.

You will of course get a new dial!

Yes sadly the AD is also going to take some photos as well, in normal lighting without the flashlight you can’t see it I have never seen it myself but yes in the end a new dial will be placed and all will be good. Just sucks to have a new watch go back so quickly.... oh well.

Officially dropped off, will update as the process goes. Dealer said they have never seen that before on new watch. States Rolex will do a full service even though a new watch...

Wondering how much out of pocket this will cost

Hoping so, just don’t want to have to pay for a service when the watch is brand new, but AD states Rolex has to CYA.

Going back to AD or RSC

For those that care or interested, got a call from the AD yesterday, Rolex stated it’s a dial flaw and will be replacing the dial under warranty.

Time frame is 2 weeks to receiving the watch back. Happy that Rolex is understanding of flaw and replacing with no charge.

They’ll have that back to you as good as new. I’m just wondering, did you just speak to NYC and is the watch being sent there? Reason I ask is you have an RSC in LA on Wilshire Blvd.

Excellent! Glad that RSC got to your watch in a timely manner and is going to fix it. Hoping that it gets in your hands sooner than later!

I called NYC as they were the first ones open, speaking to the AD he called around and found out that Dallas had the best time frame. Watch was overnighted there and then called the following day to speed up the time. Within 4 days tech had it and made the call on it.

So have nothing but great things to say about the AD thus far.

Exceedingly rare “ghost dial” is easily worth $8-10k more than perfect dial.

Rolex dials are far far far from perfect. I also created a thread about a year ago highlighting many issues with Rolex sunburst dials.

You can search to find my old thread but yeah I provided plenty of examples and actually 2 of my own watches had scratches on the dial from factory. RSC acknowledged them both and replaced both dials under warranty.

Correct SA called yesterday once he heard back from RSC stating they acknowledged the dial flaw and will replace it under warranty. Stated they told him about 2 weeks to completion.

Just want it back on the wrist.

Quick update for those who care, took right at 2 weeks from RSC receiving the watch to the watch being delivered back to AD. RSC Dallas replaced the dial under warranty for the flaw. Watch is now back and can’t find anything wrong so happy with it. Quick turnaround for RSC very happy.
