I love seeing all these OPs! My father gave me mine for my 18th birthday because I had been wearing his Explorer for a while and wearing his watch is what spurred my love(obsession) for watches so it was his way of getting me an amazing present and getting his watch back.
This is an album I made pretty soon after I got it because the blue dial seems to change in practically every different lighting.

And one thing I love about the OP is how versatile it is on so many different straps so I made an album of all the different straps I have for it, even though I wear it on the Oyster bracelet probably 95% of the time.

Best start another thread and post pictures of your watch and the details you're talking about. Rolex has never made a gold watch out of colored steel to my knowledge. This thread deals with the OP model and not the Day Date, FWIW. Welcome to the forum.

Nope, it's just my shaky hands and a long "exposure." Thanks.

It looks great with the fluted bezel; it definitely adds to the watch!!! I can see why it's your favorite.

Man, i want to get a fluted bezel for mine. Will a Rolex service center make the swap?

The fluted bezel is great but I have to say, I prefer it with a Jubilee bracelet.

I don't believe Rolex will swap anything that doesn't come with the model number at the time the watch was delivered. The 116000 wouldn't be one with the fluted bezel. It would be an 116034 instead. Currently the only model offered with a fluted bezel is an OP Date (34mm). I did the upgrade on my 116300 DJII but had to source a bezel and have a watch maker with the correct tool set add it.

That would be a cool mod. Too bad we can't just order the bezel from Rolex. We could swap bezels, maybe even mount a Jubilee, then feel like we were cheating on our OPs.

Believe me this isn't the first I've thought of it; I've bought an extra Jubilee bracelet as well that's currently on my GMT.

1960s OP 1003. My grandfather bought it in '68-69. He gave it to me to wear a couple years ago and officially gave it to me last year.

My Ref. 116034 with black Arabic dial and white markers. This dial appears to be uncommon, as most 36mm OPs with the black 3-6-9 dial have pink markers. I really like this watch as it is both sporty and dressy. Here is a wrist shot that I borrowed from a blog:

Yes I am curious about the white markers. Cause I only thought the pink markers exists like the one I own (see post #97). Anyway glad that you have a similar OP to me (with fluted bezel instead of domed). At the time I got my OP, I thought that was gonna be my only Rolex and I don't like Cyclops. So when I got the OP it has the Oyster Bracelet which is sporty and I got the black dial and Fluted bezel to make it dressier. So an all round versatile rolex for casual and dressy occassions.

I've read that the black Arabic dial with white markers was an "Asian Market " option. I've also read that this dial was initially available in the US when the 36mm OP was introduced, but was soon replaced with the black dial with pink markers. I have seen a few for sale but they are not in the US, and are usually found in Europe or Japan. This watch was purchased in Hawaii, so I really don't know the whole story.

Funny how polarizing that dial is; some love it and some hate it. I miss mine.
