I also have a DD40 and a Sub. I might wear the DD40 to the pool, but never to the beach. I wouldn't want fine sand/dust getting inside the bracelet and rubbing around (and gold is a lot softer than steel).

dd40 and beach?
Seems like a Jersey Shore thing to me, wearing a YG DD40 to the beach. I wouldn’t, preferring a tool watch like the GMT or a Sub. Sea Dweller too.

You have a better choice with the Sub but if this is a “personal style” choice I understand why you could wear a DD. Certainly any Rolex Oyster can be a beach /vacation watch.

For me, a matte dial with a splash of red works best at the beach; added benefits if it's a REALLY deep beach...

I'm sure it would be fine, it's an oyster after all.
