I’ve had a 116710ln for the past 10 years as my every day watch. I bought an m-series new and never looked back. Had a Kermit at the same time initially which I sold because I loved the 116710ln so much (regret).

However, the 116710ln is one of the best SS sport models in the line up (imho). And Certainly the best deal right now in the secondary market

I agree with this statement. I think out of the entire Rolex line if you had to pick JUST one SS forever the 116710ln is a strong candidate for the top spot

Go with the BLNR if you get bored easily. It's not a super colorful watch (e.g., the BLRO may be a deal-breaker for some as a daily) but the splash of blue is just enough to make it a "fun" yet versatile watch.

I don't own the black GMT II so I can't compare it against the BLNR. I do have a SubC date though and will say it really hasn't had much wrist time at all since adding the BLNR to the collection. I am likely going to sell it soon/whenever I make my next purchase. It just hasn't grown on me.

I own the BLNR and I like it a lot, but my position is that you can't go wrong with either.

The GMT Master II is a great watch regardless of which bezel you choose.

I have an LN and have never worn the BLNR, but have seen one in the wild. My vote is LN

I vote BLNR. It just has more presence and pops more with the colors.

I'm a little surprised the LN is holding its own in this conversation. You can really make a case for both though. LN is more classic. BLNR is more like a traditional GMT (2 color bezel). I have the LN but had the AD had both I probably would have gotten the BLNR. I'm totally happy with my LN but it does rule out a black Submariner because from 5 feet away they are essentially the same watch.

No wrong answer on this one really. Good luck deciding!

I've always said if I had to get down to one watch it would be my black Explorer II. However, after having the GMT Master II for 100 days I'm starting to think it is the ultimate one and only.

I think the LN is much more versatile and can be worn in just about any situation. I started out with a two tone GMT Ceramic. Sold that because the gold was a little too mature for me. I bought the BLNR and found myself not wearing it because of the blue. Ended up buying the LN and I wear it all the time. The all black bezel is more of a daily wearer in my opinion. I suppose if I wore more blue the BLNR would still be around.

I love my BLRO.
I have BLNR. I also have a 4 and 5 digit BLRO. Awaiting 6 digit model. Just purchased CHNR. I’ve never worn my BLNR. I’ve worn my 5 digit BLRO the most and I’d recommend it. Recently it’s been the nippled root beer. GMT’s are all nice. I don’t have the LN but I like it as well but I do agree it looks more like a sub.

The LN bezel was the second color introduced in the late '60s / early '70s on the 1675. It's quite traditional and was historically the color preference for military service. Even today the LN is surprisingly popular with private contractors.

The BLNR uses blue for day, which was historically always night on the BLRO, so it's arguably nontraditional in that sense. It's the only GMT bezel that doesn't use a warm color for day.

Food for thought. There's no right or wrong here -- only different.

I have both. I love the BLNR because of the color scheme on it. It's just more visually appealing to me. I like the LN because it's much more versatile and I feel like I can wear it with almost anything. It can be dressed up or down so easily. I have to pick the right colors to wear to dress the BLNR up I feel. Yeah, I'm probably way over thinking it.

Since you have an Explorer and a Speedy, I say BLNR to round out the collection where the LN may be too similar. Good luck!

Hey everyone, overwhelmed with the responses. TRF is an awesome place!

In all honesty, I’m thinking of getting both to cover my ground. I’ve literally had 3 chances to buy a SubND and SubD - didn’t feel that urge to have it. Got more excited about the Explorer 1. But I still want a black dial watch, so I’m leaning towards the LN. I just need to see the BLNR in person. Blue happens to be my favorite color!

I’m rather surprised about the LN, but it is clean...

Get the 116710LN. Notice the green GMT hand and the green color of the "GMT Master II". Green is the signature color of Rolex and typically represents 50th anniversary models. Even though this isn't an official 50th model its been around 50+ years. You could almost say its the SS model of the gold 50th anniversary 116718LN model.

With your Speedy and Explorer, the BLNR will give you more diversity with the splash of blue. But, giving those two, I’d probably instead shoot for the SS BLRO over the LN or BLNR.

LN looks elegant to me; BLNR a bit contrived!!! Obviously by the scores of members who have the BLNR, my opinion isn't the popular one.

BLNR was my first Rolex purchase. Chose it over the LN and never looked back. It's a great piece and the blue adds a little something special to the mix.

BLNR.

1) GMT 'should' have bicolored bezel - makes it easier to read the GMT hand at a quick glance because of the distinction.
2) The bezel looks completely black during evening/night time - so actually you get best of both worlds.
3) The blue makes it pop a little more on your wrist - but is very subtle that you hardly notice it when you see someone with it.

I've been wearing mine almost daily for 4 years now and never have I regretted my decision. And my favorite color is green tho.

LN.. always. A classic uniform look. Who cares if it looks like a Sub, you're the one who is enjoying it.

I never liked BLNR, i always felt that something is missing from the design. The blue kind of imposes itself around a black dial and a black half of the bezel. In a watch that black is dominant, you have one half that is blue, which is odd to me, and unsymmetrical. Same thing goes for coke.

That's why I always preferred the BLRO, the black is only on the dial, while the bezel is symmetrical in sharing 2 different colors other than the dials' black.

Might sound picky or weird, but hey, just my humble opinion.
