Purchased my full set 2 summers back, glad I did when I did. Just wished I was into Subs, GMT’s etc years back when I first got into watches.

Yep, if you want one I’m afraid your paying more than 9. It’s the last great GMT and Rolex will never make one that way again. The best thing Rolex ever did for us 5 digit owners
was make the 6 digit.

It would be nice if there was still the chance of something being released that I actually would want. None of mine are for sale so there isn't any immediate benefit. Nice in a shtf scenario sure.

I still feel the reason for 5 digit GMTs going up is a lack of new 6 digit availability.

Yes. F Serial, 2005. But I have no papers for it. I called NYC RSC yesterday and spoke to a representative. They told me I couldn't do it.

Because I purchased mine full set in 2017, I remember quite well the prices spiked into $9k after the BLRO at Baselworld 2018. I check every once in a while on watchrecon and they've been selling comfortably above $10k for what feels like a year now give or take.

It's my first ride on the Rolex madness train and I've got to say I'm surprised at my recent temptation to flip the dang thing as much as I love it. Can you believe it? But I've got a couple other modern 6 digits and I really do prefer them in my heart of hearts.

If you can find a really good example for under 10k in this market you have done great

I've been scoping these out as well. I love the old style clasp and low-keyness of the bezel comparative to the Ceramics

Are 16710 GMT II's actually moving at > 9K USD

I purchased my K serial GMT Coke in 2018 for $6900. It just came with a period correct box but NO papers. If I were to have it serviced by Rolex, and they send me back paper work, even though that is not the original “paper”, would that be a justifiable way to state a full set if I were to ever sell it? I think not but just wanted to ask.

No. Service papers are not original papers for a full set. Still nice to have. But not a clean replacement.

To me full set implies original warranty paperwork.

For authenticity and “peace of mind”, it doesn’t matter if it’s original or service paperwork
But for “collectibility”, the original everything including box, booklets and warranty paperwork make a difference!
Polishing is another factor where it wouldn’t make the least difference to wear and enjoy if it’s lightly polished but for collectibility it does make a difference and unpolished are more expensive as they’re getting more and more scarce

I got my full original set unpolished F serial earlier this year for around $10.5 and even though I could’ve gotten a less expensive one but I’m happy with mine as it’s as original as can be!

I have an F serial 16710 LN full set and bought the coke and pepsi bezel. It is the most versatile 5 digit rolex in my opinion!

No it would not. Full sets have the original paperwork.

A "ratty" unpolished watch is a ratty unpolished watch. For many, ratty watches, adds little to no value. A nice, unpolished watch is where the added premium in value comes from when comparing them to polished watches.

I agree but I was not talking about “ratty” condition!

Paying that little was a great move, so do not worry about 20 year old expired papers..

Good point. Are they selling for asking price? Yes, in most cases. Small discounts.

I fed up keep checking those 16710s in the market and paid 15k usd for a NOS rectangular dial. Not easy to find full set, in good condition, bezel matching papers etc. Its a tricky watch.

The 16710 gmt is one of the most versatile sport Rolex model in market. Great size and feel on the wrist!

My favorite watch that I own, and I just don't see them going down in price.

Seems like the reached a high point last summer. Full sets were topping 13k+. I think they’ve come down quite a bit from there. My guess is complete sets will be around 10-11k depending on condition.

i suppose its bittersweet that it cost me my 14060m set + speedy reduced + $500 for that 16710 LN but this was when they were in the $7k range. Shoulda just paid the cash instead of trading the sub away.

Purchased a 2000 16710 with no B or P but was just fully serviced and had a complete case restoration.

Paid high 9s for it. I couldn't be happier. Like you OP the 5 digits hit the sweet spot the 6 digits never will.

Hi all,

I am just new to the forum and noticed this discussion, so herewith my first contribution to the Rolex Forums.

Saturday past, I bought a P-series 16710. Box, papers, booklets and hang tag for approximately USD 9,500. I had been looking for quite a while and it seemed a good deal.

Best,

B.F.

Just last week I bought a 16710 with box and papers for approximately USD 9,500. Bought it is S.E. Asia where the market is perhaps not as big as the U.S. or Europe.
