I originally had a 320 (same case as 312) that I purchased due to value/price. But just couldn't get the 233 out of my mind and ended up selling it for a 233. Couldn't resist the domed glass, manual wind and the 8 day movement. I also find the 233 sit on my wrist better. I only have one watch, but can't be happier to have a 233 as my daily wearer.

233 is more core to Panerai DNA with its 8 day manual wind movement ...

I purchased a 312 because of two reasons.
1) I couldn't afford the 233, which was my first choice. 2) At the time I didn't mind having a simple (Time, seconds & date) watch as an every day use. After a slight glinch with the 312, it went back to the AD and I decided then instead of having it repaired, I would bite the bullet and get the 233. I love the slightly thinner case, as it fits both my wrist better and under the cuffs. The lovely domed crystal and the 10 1/2 day powe reserve. :)

I would pick this one
Sleeker and not as tall case... domed glass... in house movement and 8 days of juice... this is worth the pay-up in my opinion. Good luck with your decision! Best, Fred |

I was thinking the same thing. Quite an amazing level of interest in these models.

312 for me! while the domed crystal is attractive, it appears smaller for some reason...i prefer the simpler, yet more functional dial of 312..i don't need the GMT function so the decision was easier...

I've had a 351 since August. Love it, but I've got the itch for a 233. The 233 is the watch I really wanted when I was back in the market for a Panerai in August. I am thinking that it is a better piece for me to own in the long run, more versatile, etc...Or not??? This hobby is crazy!!!
Out of all the in-house automatic 1950 case models, the PAM 351 is my favorite. The tobacco dial is different and the light-weight Titanium case wears more comfortable on my wrist compared to the other SS models, ie, PAM 312. The PAM 233 is SS, but it has a slightly slimmer case, thus wears really nice on my thin wrists. I am more of an automatic watch guy, but no big deal in winding the 233 up once a week. I also like linear PR function. I'll throw this at you. I can't see owning multiple 1950 case models, so which one would you choose...PAM 351 or PAM 233?

I love my 312, but am seriously considering a 233 now after seeing all the photos.

Hey guys, I am getting close to pulling the trigger on a 233K dot. I need to scratch the itch! If so, then the 351 is going, going, gone. Wish me luck.

Good Luck! I will have a brand new PAM 270 sitting on my wrist tomorrow...I couldn't resist that dome crystal but quickly realized my love for the 9 (as found on the 312) and my very real need for an automatic since my PAM 111 takes a lot of turns for 56hr reserve. I had to keep in mind that I would still dedicate some wrist time to my Rolex SubC and Breitling Navi 01 LE. I tried both on at my AD and was given 20% off the 270. Suddenly my wallet deflated :) You can't go wrong as long as it has that super dome!

Well I sold my 351 and have a 233K on the way. I should have it on Tuesday. I can't wait. The P.2002 is one mean movement. Gotta love the 8 day power reserve.

Brand new PAM270 wrist pics!
I'm loving my brand new Panerai PAM270! That dome is impressive and the size and weight give it amazing wrist presence. Picked it up from my AD Thursday and I've already gotten a lot of compliments on it.
Close-up photo: Really appreciate the 10 day auto since all three spots on my watch winder are occupied. Has to share wrist time with my Breitling Navi 01 LE (this movement is accurate), Rolex SubC and my gym watch Seiko SKX173 (has to stay on the wider). BTW, I have 7.5" wrists. Enjoy and keep the thread going :) |

I received my new to me 233K yesterday. What a nice piece! It's all I could want in a Panerai (sandwich dial, domed crystal, cool complications..ie, power reserve and GMT, etc), for now LOL! No regrets on getting rid of the 351. It wears much more comfortable than the 1950 cased automatic models, ie the 312 or my old 351 :) The case is thinner, but overall about same thickness when you factor in domed crystal. It's definitely lighter than the 312 and maybe a touch heavier than the 351. It does take quite a bit of effort (turns) to get a full tank of gas. No big deal as it only needs to be wound once a week if wearing daily.

Initially, I was torn between the 312 and 359. Once I saw them in person, I clearly LOVED the 359 better than the 312. Conversely, most people appear to favor the 312 over the 359. If I had to choose between the 312 and 233, for me I would probably go with the 312, just because of the water resistance limitation of the 233. If the WR was better, 233 hands down.
