I have a 5 digit model with a 3186 and I had issues with the GMT function, which required a service. The watch maker told me it's a known issue that was corrected in the 6 digit models.

Thank you EEpro, diectioneng and AF Rob,

I read your responses including post 20. I believe all my 2015 to 2018 GMT Master IIs all have the 3186 Movement.

I dont understand? Corrected in the 6 Digit References? Was the date click spring changed out in later 3186 movements with the 6 digit reference? I need to study further.

Never corrected. My 2019 LN feels exactly the same. No upgraded spring like the 3187. It would be in all 116710, 13, 18, etc until they released the new movement in the 1267 series.

I wouldn't sweat it. Use it like you want to and fix it when it breaks. No sense in worrying about it.

My understanding is that upgraded springs are installed in the older 3186 movements during a service or a failure?

I have seen pix of the two springs side by side and there is a noticeable difference in the construction.

Bas would know if this is correct?

Thank you again EEpro and directioneng. I wont worry about it. Hopefully the stress margin on the spring is sufficiently high the probability of failure is very low.

A watch Vlogger was talking about this today and brought it to my attention.

I'm the one who posted that pic on here. Yes they're always upgraded during a service

sorry to revive this thread, but is there anything to be said about paying more for a newer model? I understand people pay quite a bit more for vintage in many cases, but if you are buying a watch produced in 2009 vs 2000, is the premium going to also make it more likely that your watch lasts in good shape for longer?

Or are these things such tanks that a 9 year difference isn't significant and the main factors are more idiosyncratic to each watch?
