BLRO Review - 1st Day on the Wrist (Pictures Included)

Hey Everyone,

Today I had the BLRO attached to my wrist ALL day right up until now as I am typing. I may even sleep with it tonight.
Honestly I cannot remember loving a watch so much on the first day wearing it.
YG Sub is a close second...

I love the watch so much today, I just HAD to get a shirt to match today (A Brunello Cucinelli. Perfect shirt for a perfect watch!!)

BLRO1.jpg

I now get why the The Rolex GMT Master II 116719 BLRO was the big hit for Rolex in Basel 2014!

The Beauty of Rolex white gold I know all too well with my long
lost Smurf. The Rolex foundry white gold is homogenized pure white gold all the way through.
Though it looks like stainless steel in pictures and videos (sometimes), in person, there is something very different going on vs SS.
It has a richness and a luster that is hard to describe and in lower light it starts to turn a very special pale golden hue that scintillates with magic.
Honestly I am glad this is ONLY in WG.
Putting such beauty on SS while it would be nice for the wallet, would be disrespectful for the true art of the watch.

Here is a picture where you can kinda see that beautiful white golden hue..

BLRO4.jpg

12.6 mm thick and 48 mm lug to lug this watch fits my 6.5 inch wrists perfectly.
There is such a nice feel and balance and it is surprisingly more comfortable than my current YG sub and previous Smurf (only slightly),
though I am not sure why considering I usually prefer glide-lock to 5 mm easy-link adjustment.
As others have said it melts on the wrist and it does so like white golden butter.
The luxury and Surprising comfort makes it a nice companion in the Rolls Royce...

BLRO2.jpg

To Be Continued...

The black lacquer dial is so sublime and not many watch companies can compare.
This beautiful dial is paired with an even more beautiful and innovative Blue - Red (french Bleu - Rouge = BL-RO)
ceramic bezel combination that juxtaposed together makes a work of art to behold on the wrist.
The red 24 hour hand is a PERFECT accent to through just the right amount of color across the pristine dial.

BLRO7.jpg

I have seen this watch at the AD before, but wearing for a day, the innovative first ever "red" ceramic on a bezel along with the blue makes for such a perfect and patriotic combination.
I guess each bezel takes 40 hours to make and what begins all blue gets treated to bring out the red.
The effort Rolex puts into making this highly polished ceramic bezel pays off in spades.
Under certain lighting the polish is as smooth as glass as some of my pictures show.

BLRO3.jpg

As always with Rolex on the wrist, adjusting the clasp, and setting the time you feel a sense of strength and robustness.
And cosc certified we know Rolex is one of the must reliable automatic watches.
This 3186 movement is one of Rolex's best and contains much of the latest and greatest tech to insure accurate timekeeping.

The Bleu-Rouge (BLRO) is an elegant tank of a watch that is as sleek as a Ferrari on the wrist.
If Pan Am was still around today, they would be proud of this watch that first debuted as the GMT Master in 1954 in a collaboration between Rolex and Pan Am.
A true tool watch at the time, though even now it is great for trip taking and keeping track to up to 3 time zones.

Sure it may look cranberry and blueberry-ish under bright lights like the shot below...
But I think that adds an element of fun that makes for a kaleidoscope of colors and flavors when wearing and enjoying the watch.

BLRO6.jpg

Thanks for reading, Now go out and get one yourself.
I am pointing exactly in the direction of David SW.... Really

^^^Thanks everyone

Sorry it could have been edited a little better.
When I got around to rereading I was "locked" out by TRF to edit.
Only a few little typos and paragraphs I would change.

Quote:
The red 24 hour hand is a PERFECT accent to through just the right amount of color across the pristine dial.
Should have been:

The red 24 hour hand is a PERFECT accent to throw just the right amount of color across the pristine dial.

This paragraph wasn't complete:

Quote:
I have seen this watch at the AD before, but wearing for a day, the innovative first ever "red" ceramic on a bezel along with the blue makes for such a perfect and patriotic combination.
I guess each bezel takes 40 hours to make and what begins all blue gets treated to bring out the red.
The effort Rolex puts into making this highly polished ceramic bezel pays off in spades.
Under certain lighting the polish is as smooth as glass as some of my pictures show.
I would add a few sentences and change to below:

---
I have seen this watch at the AD before, but wearing this beauty for a day, it was as if I was seeing it with new eyes.
Especially the pulchritude of the new ceramic Pepsi bezel.
This innovative first ever "red" ceramic on a bezel along with the blue makes for such a perfect and patriotic combination.
The colors magically change under different lighting situations and the bezel can sorta even transition from high polish in lower light and certain angles,
to semi-matte in high sunlight make the colors look more pastel.
Some complain, but I like the colorful transitions.
I guess each bezel takes 40 hours to make and what begins all blue gets treated to bring out the red.
The effort Rolex puts into making this highly polished ceramic bezel pays off in spades.
Under certain lighting the polish and finish on the Cerachrom bezel is as smooth as glass as some of my pictures show.
---

But overall it conveys what I wanted to say yesterday.

Here's a new car/watch shot today (and new avatar as well)

I totally disagree, but then again I'm not a millionaire. Some people's car actually costs LESS than their watch.

Haha, I am sure you are correct.
I met a guy with a smart car and hundreds of thousands in watches.
Well perhaps Rolex will make it on SS one day...
Personally I really like the way it looks and feels on WG.

I'd recognized the 911 in your avatar before, but didn't realize that the blue car was a BMW.

I keed, I keed. Nice Phantom. :)

I'm still on the fence about the BLRO, nice write-up and pics are pushing me over to the dark side...

Oh, and kudos for buying a fine luxury automobile in a color other than black, white or silver.

What a great review! I could feel your excitement and passion coming through in your words. Well done!
I recently bought this watch, I've worn it every day for nearly 6 weeks and it still takes my breath away all the time. And that wraith is amazing too, I've never seen one before. Care to post a few more pics of it ??
Thanks again for the review.

Wonderful write-up for an equally wonderful watch.

I had a 116713 LN which I used extensively during my fortnightly travels. It was a always joy to take it off and jump the hour when the flight attendant announced local time.

But I recently flipped it for a grail watch with the assurance that I'll get the BLRO someday.
