My YG 15450 finally arrived yesterday but......

But I got a call on the same day from a local dealer that a bnib RG Jumbo 15202or is available for me to purchase tomorrow (Monday) if I want it.

What should I do? Flip the YG 15450 to acquire the RG Jumbo or let the Jumbo go?

Here are a few comparison pics of the YG 15450 to some of the other pieces in my collection.

Sorry for sending so many photos but I thought some of you may be interested in how the 37mm compares to the 39mm and 40mm references in my collection.

Great suggestion. I will have both side by side tomorrow and decide.

I have owned the RG Jumbo before - just didn't love it then because of absence of seconds hand and lack of quick date set.....maybe it'll be different the second time around.

i believe u will be won over by the 450 when u have it next to the 202. even as classic as the jumbo is, and i'm sure ever more stunning in RG finish, i think you'll enjoy the 450 more. the yellow gold against that shimmering blue grande patisserie dial...the dial alone, for me, is what sets it apart from the jumbo's petite version...the entire package is just something else.

can't wait to hear your thoughts on this when u have both in hand...curious myself.

now...a jumbo in yellow gold and blue dial combo...that would be a nice comparo!

+1... but in SS.
replace the dual time with jumbo SS, and keep the 450 yellow gold.

you say flip a new gold 15450? i assume you went grey market vs dealer, as getting anywhere close to purchase price is unlikely. if dealer, will they let you turn in the 15450 to "downgrade" to the jumbo?

The blue on the 450 is lovely but the watch is a bit squashed up for me, so the 202 is better balanced, and will go better with your ROOs Ken.

jumbo without a doubt. However why not just get the YG one since you got the YG 15450 to begin with?

That blue dial is lovely and works so perfectly with the RG colour. Grab it!

The YG 15202 is actually not that easy to get. They’re pretty limited but not a LE watch.

I've owned the SS Jumbo in the past and didn't love it (I know I am in the minority here!). It felt too light and I found the links adjacent to the case too stiff, not forming to my narrow wrist properly. There was also the issue of no seconds hand, and last but not least, not having a quick set on the date.

When I try on the RG Jumbo tomorrow, I am sure I will love the weight. Will see if I can convince myself to accept not having the seconds hand or the quick set on the date.

Stay tuned!

Great idea but for sure the wife won't be too happy if I spend an extra 10k or so for an extra 2mm in width

Very good point Neil. I am looking forward to trying the RG Jumbo tomorrow - hopefully I can put up with a few of the issues I experienced with the SS version as I do love the look of the RG model.

You're right. I purchased the YG 15450 from a grey dealer on this forum (harrisonsbrilliance). If I do decide to flip it (again with Harry's help), it will be to acquire a bnib RG Jumbo, not the SS model.

did u ever try a 1.5 link on the jumbo? i have one on mine, and it helps with a perfect fit.

+1 re: seconds hand and quick set. add screw down crown for xtra water resistance. i love the SS jumbo for its legend, but the 450 for its practically... and it's shiny gold!

Good question Ben. I am thinking that I may have given up on it a bit too quickly the 1st time I owned it. I am going to pick up the watch in a couple of hours so we'll see how I feel about it this time around.

I finally tried on the RG Jumbo an hour ago. I must admit, I didn't fall in love with it - which tells me my feelings about it the first time I owned this piece were right.

The RG seemed too pink on me today, possibly because I've been looking at the YG 15450 quite a few times in the past 48 hours. The "smallish" tapisserie also bothered me. I didn't mind the lack of a seconds hand.

So I have decided to keep my YG 15450!

im always glad when people go against the grain and get what they actually prefer. 15202 is the consensus favorite, but not for everyone.

Thanks Tyler. For me, the 15300 still rules in the Royal Oak Kingdom!

This is a great decision, buy what you love, its a simple concept but people get caught up in the hype. They are both extraordinary watches and I'm glad you got the one you want. The larger tapisserie and seconds hand gives it a great contrast plus the practicality of a date and screw down crown. The yellow gold looks stunning and just look at that seconds hand. Congrats on a beautiful watch.

IMHO, that's an excellent choice (I think it looks absolutely fantastic)! And yes, we should always buy what we love. Then again, that's easier sad than done with all the hype out there from social media, etc.

Congrats, Ken on yet another fantastic timepiece. :)

Cheers,
Joe
