GV is a great all around watch. i think it does great in the office and out. i like the utility of the GMT IIc, but i really believe the GV is the more special of the two.

Interesting responses - especially those in favor of the Milgauss. Nothing against the Milgauss - I have only seen it at an AD and don't own one. Like all Rolexes it is a very high quality piece but the look is really one of preference.

I do have a GMT IIc and it is quite simply the finest watch I have ever owned. I have owned IWC, Omega and Rolex. The look, feel, GMT function, trip lock crown, updated bracelet and accuracy make this a watch I simply can't take off. My Exp II and GMT 16710 have gotten very little wrist time over the last six months.

In the end it is always about personal preference. However, IMO the IIc is the quintesential Rolex made today.

I own both GMT master 2 Ceramic 2 tone and Green Milgauss,
Ceramic GMT2- the only this I don't link Ceramic is that the ceramic chip off easy. If you travel often or use multiple time zone it great use, look great.
Milgauss is great fit nice, comfortable, and if you have multiple watches just set the correct hour, give it some juice and go.

GMT is a solid watch.
If you don't have a sub then get a GMT - it's a cornerstone.

Milgauss is on a whole nother level however :D

However, I do own a GMT IIC and it is simply awesome.

Everything that has been stated is true. Given the choice it would be the GMT all the way.

I have both and I find the GMT II to be a more versatile watch IMHO, you can dresas it down or up depending on the need. Plus I feel that the GMTII has more functionality.

Well, I had never owned a good watch, and decided to treat myself. After much research I narrowed down to Explorer 1 or Milgauss GV, although I was concerned about the large size of the Milgauss.

I visited the AD who had both in stock and tried the Explorer first and loved it, then tried the Milgauss and it hasn't been off my wrist since - that was 6 months ago...it's got a few small marks on the bracelet, but it is the only watch I own, and I think it is one of the best luxury purchases I have ever made!

I don't have either one yet, but will own both. GMT IIC for great versatility and beauty and the Milgauss for technical prowess and simplicity. These models are so different and both so desireable. Since joining the Forum, I've been dreaming about Rolexes daily!

1. pcl, so you can pull it off a as sorta dressy, work watch.
2. gmt function, not like a use it but its something cool
3. it tells you the date, if you use that
4. a bezel that you can use for the time zones and ALSO!! timing things
5. you can also pull it off casually as a sport watch
6. it looks great
7. did i mention it looks great?

I had exactly the same dilemna.....and I went for the Milgauss GV. I absolutely adore it. It is quite heavy, but I actually like that. But guess what my next dilemna is?

Yeah, GMTII SS or GMTII SS/YG.......

You'll end up buying both....that's good advice from the poster above :-)

I would say gmt since that's what I'm wearing as we type this. Lol..I have tried on the GV but IMO the GMT is a "Rolex" the GV feels and looks more gimmicky then what a Rolex should be.... I believe that if you are going to spend that kind of money on a watch you want something that will stand the test of time (no pun intended) and be iconic. In my opinion the GV just doesn't meet that requirement.
The fact that the GMT can tell you 3 times zones means nothing to me. In fact the chances of me even using that feature is few and far between. The fact that it's there and that it's iconic for Rolex is what it's all about. The "lightning bolt" hands look odd to me... You can't beat the ceramic bezel and the PCL on the GMT...Remarkable piece...

I have both. Well the GMT IIC, I have the Milgauss GV wrapped under the tree to open for Christmas (2011). I bought the IIC first. I actually used to not like the GV at all, but it has certainly grown on me. And yes the GV is perfect for dressier wear and or semi dressy. The GMT is the most proffesional though in my opinion. It is a solid watch and is bold. Nothing makes a statement better than a bold watch like the GMTIIC, but the GV with the green sapphire is certainly an eye catcher. However trying them both on will clear a lot of things up. I have an event I will be present at in the begining of this next year, and I have know clue which one I will choose. I will probably choose the Milgauss GV, because it is the newest of my watch collection. MY VOTE FOR A FIRST ROLEX, HOWEVER, IS MOST CERTAINLY THE ROLEX GMT-MASTER II C. The IIC really shows off the best of rolex!
