I just checked my Sub and Blnr. Both are not 100% perfect but it seems that if I look from the top, the top edge of lens is lined up with the top line of the date box. I think it is purposely done to facilitate showing the date box from a tilted angle.

Suggested New Policy
IMHO there should be a new "3 strikes and you're out" Policy for all those "Wise-guy" members out there making comments like "looks like a Replica " or "definitely fake" or "terrible dial" without any explanation and/or justification whatsoever, then they turn out to be completely wrong. When asked why they gave that incorrect opinion - they are suddenly "gone with the Wind" ... it seems completely counter-productive not to mention giving the OP the completely wrong impression ...just my 2 cents ...

I would constantly be looking at that alignment issue. I would definitely take it back if its not too late.

RSC will be happy to fix that. It is not acceptable, it looks like it is drooping. The best of luck to you, OP.

I know this is an old thread, but my GMT cyclops is also off. It's not all that rare.

I freaked out over a piece of dust in my watch, that would drive me crazy to point I would want a refund... I can’t believe that would pass quality control honestly. I can’t believe nobody at the factory noticed that.. My guess is somehow it got loosed up or moved by prior owner or replaced crystal? If that did pass QC that’s nuts..

i may be wrong, but I would think the high end replicas would never have this issue.... i mean they're charging 300-500$ for a good replica, so they know everything will be scrutinized, they wont make money selling 1:1 replicas that have a messed up cyclops
I would think such an issue is more likely to slip by Rolex QC, or if original owner had a replacement crystal installed by a random watchmaker

DS doesn't have that problem. Or get a non date. I love the fact the DS is the only reference right now that has no bubble growing out over the date .

Difficult to tell from photos, even holding my Blusey up against them.
I wouldn't want to cause unnecessary alarm, but I must say that the watch in the OP photos looks well off in a number of areas. Regardless. The cyclops alignment is ridiculous. Did a RSC do that? If they didn't, then who did? And what else have they done to it? I would be looking for a full refund. |

I had a wonky cyclops once, it bothered me a bit at first but I forgot about it as I didn't look at it at that very straight angle very often, and I sold it a few months later.

Cards the easiest thing to duplicate. I wouldn’t rush to any judgments here. If it were me I’d send it in to Rolex if it bothered me that much. (Frankly, it wouldn’t.) They’ll fix the cyclops, if it indeed is off, and certainly confirm whether it’s authentic. Little disappointing everyone’s claiming it is fake on some poor definition internet pics.

Unfortunately Rolex sucks at lining up the cyclops. I bought a brand new BLNR from a TS and it came with a crooked cyclops that was way worse than OP’s. I didn’t notice it until I was examining it one day and it crushed me because I bought it as an investment piece. Sure I could’ve sent it in to Rolex but I’m sure it wouldn’t come back in the same condition with all the factory stickers so ultimately I ended up selling it because it bothered me so much. I’ve seen replicas with better alignment honestly. I still get heated thinking about it.
Op, if you’re still under warranty you should be able to get it fixed via RSC. Just do a search though, it seems like many come back with new issues like scratches and dings that weren’t there before. Yours doesn’t seem as bad as mine did so honestly I’d just leave it alone.

You can see the serial in both and the cyclops has the same misalignment. We believe you. Don't worry about him.

On the first photo, as well as the cyclops alignment and magnification the Mercedes hand looks a bit suspect (too thick) and the Perl housing on the bezel (too thick) and the font on the 20.
But the subsequent photos don’t look so bad.. I’d only relax after having a service quite at RSC to authenticate it. Good luck and keep us posted. |
