First New Omega Purchase

Hello all,

I'm contemplating my first new Omega purchase (have a vintage Seamaster). I'm looking to get a blue wave Seamaster 300M from an Authorized Dealer here in Atlanta (Brown and Co). The retail price is $5200 for the steel bracelet model.

I've searched through the forums and the potential discounts are a bit widespread, from 10% all the way to the unicorn 30%. I'm seeing them available on Chrono24/Jomashop/this forum/etc for around 20-25% off, but I really want the peace of mind that comes with purchasing from an AD, plus it'd be nice to build a relationship for future purchases.

My question is, what should be the realistic discount I ask for vs. accept? I was thinking of asking for 20% discount plus the rubber strap, before applicable taxes. Does that seem fair and/or achievable?

Does anyone have experience with ADs in the Atlanta area?

Thank you in advance.

It’s a great watch, good choice.
No harm in asking, but I’d think 20% AND the strap is unlikely. 15% or 10% and strap sounds about right to me.
But the best way to find out is to just ask. Worst you can get is a ‘no’.

I reckon 10% and a strap you will be doing ok - the strap being about 5% or so....

The strap is $250 and the buckle is $50 if my memory serves me correctly. Add tax and you are looking at about $325 out the door. The watch is great and mine have been bullet proof on the movement and finishing. Look at DavidSW, a Trusted Seller here and one of the biggest and most respected on the internet. He has about any model you want and the prices are where you want to be. He will also negotiate depending on the watch. This will be a chance to get over, "I do not buy on the internet because I do not trust it." As far as your AD I do not think you will get more than 10% if you get the strap and there is a chance they will not do a discount as the Seamaster is a hot watch right now. Good luck and let us know what you do.

These look fantastic. I'm headed to visit the AD tomorrow. I think I'm going to propose an 18% discount (no straps). I've seen some leather NATOs that I think would go well.

I've seen the blue Seamaster on Chrono24 for right around $4200-4300 with the full 5 year manufacturer warranty. Buying with my Amex extends that warranty by 2 more years I believe. If they can match the Chrono24 price, or get somewhat close, I'll buy AD. If not, online it is!

No and I doubt you will get it. Omega Boutiques don’t usually discount over 15%, most in the US don’t discount at all, and I’ve never heard they will chip in a $750 rubber strap/deployant for free. Limited edition models don’t have any discounts.

Update

Thank you all for the input. I was able to get 10% off plus $300 of in store credit. They also threw in a bottle of champagne as a thank you gift. That equates to about a 15.7% overall discount. As I plan to get my fiancee a Cartier Tank later this year, that worked for me. My SA was also very friendly and showed my fiancee various wedding bands, watches, etc.

It was a great experience, and I am over the moon with this watch already! Haven't stopped staring!!

As a side note, I have been put on a "more official contact list" for a GMT Master II on Jubilee bracelet. We'll see where that goes.

Great watch and a fair deal! Congratulations! I remember when Rolex ADs used to give bottles of Champagne. Now you have to bring THEM a bottle to get you up the list lol!

Cheers and enjoy!

Good deal and great watch! Put some of that $300 towards a blue Omega rubber strap - you'll love it. Great to have both the strap and bracelet, and you'll still have some change left over from that credit

Excellent choice with the Blue! I'm so glad Omega upgraded the boxes, they're amazing. Looking forward to more pictures of this piece. Congrats and enjoy in good health.

Well done, that’s a great outcome.
The Tank is such a classic watch, hopefully she loves it. And congratulations on the engagement
