Meteorite Dial GMT
I would really love to add a GMT meteorite dial to my collection. I've expressed an interest to two ADs. One told me "unobtanium" and the other tells me he's never been allocated a single one. Any thoughts? I can go gray but pricing seems high right now. Thanks.

Get one now while you can. There are fewer and fewer for sale and they’re climbing fast. Pay $60ks now or $100k+ later.

See if a dial change is permitted? If you order the blue and get it, are you allowed to submit it to a dial change? If so, that might be cheaper (you could even go 'grey' for the blue dial and then submit to AD for dial change)). Only if one can do that of course...
Good luck! |

Just had a conversation with my AD about this exact watch yesterday and they said they have never received one. They were told they are as rare as a rainbow Daytona. But they did get one of those...

I use two AD’s, one has told me they’ve received one and the other (part of the WOS group)has never seen one. They told me when one becomes available each individual WOS store puts forward there application on behalf of the client and the head management decides who receives it.

Demand for that watch has blown up in the past few months. Unobtainable now for mere mortals.

I call BS, but will wait until mine comes in (before the year is up) to firmly assert the facts.

I usually don't encourage buying watches over retail and tend to wait for my AD to come through but if I were to break my rules it would be for this guy. As a previous comment says, pay 60 now or 100 later.

If you love the watch and have the means, buy it now and start enjoying it!

Is the meteorite GMT on allocation or is it potentially able to be ordered like a DD? I’ve got an AD I’ve used in the past who just told me he thinks he can order me one.
Anyone else heard this? |

They can be ordered once the AD is allowed to order one. I think they have to hit a special benchmark for Rolex to allow them to place order. My AD wasn’t able to order one until 1 1/2 years after the release. It then took 7 months to show up. So if they offer to order, jump on that offer.

Good. Silly to not be able to order a $40,000 watch if you have the means and want it. Hope it’s changed back or maybe my SA couldn’t order one cause they already had one on order. Who knows. So many different stories on what’s possible. Just glad I have my blue dial Pepsi and Hope you can get your space rock one.

It seems to me they can order, but only a limited quantity, i.e., 1 or 2 per year, and whether they can order the meteorite also depends on what other rarer watches they've also ordered. I gather there is a cap of X number of "special" watches they can order a year. There is some ability for the AD to select what watches they get, but the amount of orders they get within those "special" makes is limited. What I gather too is that the "X" number isn't quite set in stone and there can be some negotiation with Rolex for a larger allocation of orderable special makes. That last part is my assumption. |

Would go gray now and get it. Will cost you far too much in qualifying spend and take far too long, if it even works out. Get it while you can.

This shouldn't be difficult to get. Try a few AD's. Some have different allocations, I see your in Buffalo, definitely go to a NYC dealer.

A couple of well-respected grey dealers have it and are asking $67k and $68k, respectively, for it

Timepiece gentlemen had one today for 58k. Check with him. I think they said they had another one coming in it was cheap cheap.

Can you expound on your comments? In my experience, as well as the experience of many other collectors with whom I’m close, the meteorite GMT is extremely hard to get. ADs do not get many of them. I also understand that some ADs have never gotten even one. Also, do you truly believe a new customer (and an out-of-town one to boot) has a shot at a meteorite GMT from an AD in NYC? NYC?

Really the only way is gray unless you have some heavy connections.
