Contemplating this trade. Need some opinions please!

Sub date 116610LN for new Sub Kermit 41mm.

Basically an even swap.

Will I regret it? or is this a great trade ?

Thanks TRF!!

How much does your 116610 mean to you? Sure the new reference has a higher value on the market right now but do the changes interest you?

All things considered the fact that it’s basically an even swap is in your favor imo.

I’m amazed someone would do that swap.... the new Kermit has a higher market value.
I’d bite their hand off

I agree. Why would someone with the Kermit leave money on the table?

It’s at least a $6k difference.

Close friend of mine, after wearing the watch for a month, 2 things are annoying him, the color green and the chunky bracelet. We’ve helped each other in business ventures in the past, he’s not looking to sell to Gray for profit. My Sub is in flawless condition and practically brand new with little to no wrist time.

Oh yes, it would be very smart trade for you. Both of them are Sub but the new Kermit is a lot more in demand than previous Sub date.

The main importance thing is you should have only the one that sing to you.

Yes 100% I’d do the swap. Even if you don’t like it you’re financially ahead

I don’t like the 126610LV ‘Kermit’, but considering you don’t wear the previous generation black Sub much, then it is a GREAT deal for a no-money exchange. Even if you ended up not liking/wearing the 126610LV much, in the same way you don’t wear your 116610LN, it would still be a great deal. The 12LV is rarer and more desired than the 11LN, and from a financial lens makes sense all else equal.

I am very surprised your friend is offering such a deal. Quite peculiar indeed. In fact, if he wasn’t ‘your friend,’ I would question his intent.

It is like someone trading a Ferrari 488 for a Ferrari F430, in an EVEN trade. It’s a free world and all is possible, but I’d wonder if there was something wrong with the 488.

Simply doesn’t make sense, but if all is kosher then absolutely do the deal.

If you are swapping with a friend, sure why not.

But I would be careful about the green. It’s hype and I am not so sure people would run after them if they were selling below MSRP second hand.

As long as his 32xx hasn’t gone rogue, it makes sense. Just realize that you’d be nominally obligated to reverse the trade if he gets tired of a black bezel (since he’s a friend).

I will bite and probably be the minority.

1. Just from a personal angle I would never give up the LN. it is the one and only Rolex to own if you can only have one.
2. The LV is amazing and I would figure out how to ADD it to my collection.
3. If this is purely a “value” question which sadly that is what this forum has become then hell yes I would trade.

I never buy, trade or sell on value so I could care less about that. I have owned both and I would tell you it is funny the LV got more wrist time however again if I could only have one Rolex it hands down would be the LN. I have owned two and going to get a third some day. The first was my first. It was handed down to my first son on college graduation day. My current one will be handed down to son number 2 when he does and then I will buy a third for me.

I would have to desperately want the 12 series and have fallen out of love with the 11 series. This is unlikely to happen to me. I would aim to eventually own both (although in my case my green sub is the Hulk and will remain so). But if your 116610NR is unloved and unwanted, why not swap it? It sounds like a good swap. It's too easy to get hung up on the financials because people are increasingly obsessed with value and profit more than the watches, as already evidenced in this thread. I get where you and your friend and coming from. Sounds good if you don't want the black one.

Do you like the LV? You haven't let us in on this, uh, minor aspect of the potential transaction. If I did, I'd go ahead, sure. BTW, what does 'basically' mean in your 'basically an even swap"?

Cheers

I would definitely do that swap.
Especially if he is a friend and he is the one prompting it. You know that it is legit and no surprises.

I still remember when the Hulk would sit unloved in the display case of all the AD's - they couldn't sell them! My friend got 12% off of his.... sigh not anymore!

Yes. If you do not like it in a bit trade or sell it for what you want and move on. No issues.

Seeing as you would be swapping with a friend I would only do it if you actually like the LV. Flipping it would be in poor taste IMO.
