Some of my wrist shots of the new 2021 models

I got invited to a private viewing party, the first in USA I was told, to see and experience all the new 2021 models. Due to social distancing etc, the event was appointment based with time slots, but it was so much nicer experience than the past ones where the store would be full and one had to compete to get to try a certain piece. ( although that setup had its own socializing charm as well. )

My take after seeing the new models, was wow... simply wow. Rolex is truly a master in making incremental changes that make a huge impact on desirability.

For example, I was a fan of Exp2 5 digit (16570) but never got to really liking the newer 216570 much, to a point that even at the start of shortage when there was a polar available at same AD, I passed on it. But the new Exp2 226570 was simply beautiful to me. The change from floating hands to the new ones make a big difference ( at least for me).

The two tone Explorer 36 mm was a huge surprise. Pictures don’t do this model justice and man does it look beautiful in person. Hold any judgement until you have seen it in person.

The palm motif dials especially in green which my wife and I have been referring to as Tommy Bahama dials, were simply beautiful and out of this world. The green palm motif dial is very nicely done, as one would expect from Rolex and its dial executions. Rolex has used some laser technology to make the dial to from darker up top to a lighter shade down at the bottom and it just gives it such a depth.

The blue fluted dial on DateJust 36 was intriguing and very nicely done. Although I have to get used to it as it has some vertical lines in it that at first glance made me think there are scratches on the crystal.

The new PM Daytonas , almost every single one is a dream to look at. If I ever hit the super lotto jackpot, there will be a ‘one of each’ order out the first day. :)

I have typed too much on my iPhone now. Let me get into sharing these pics. These are all quick unedited pics so some might not do justice to the watches. But here I want to share my personal experience and not marketing pics.

I hope you enjoy these.

My wife and I after the viewing at the outdoor private reception area.

I was waiting on the new Exp. iI Polar , all my watches are black except my D-Blue . But every picture I see of the black with the WG hands really make me want that watch .

Wow congrats! You are the first "civilian" person I have seen that got to see these in the flesh. The Exp 1 looks fantastic.

Great pictures, any idea when the ad expects to start receiving shipments to sell?

Thanks for sharing your experience and all the great photos! Seeing it in person is much different that us just looking at photos, lucky you!

I’m looking closely at the explorer 2. From your photos, the overall size of the dial for the black looks smaller than the white dial. Did you feel that when trying it on? I’m leaning on the white, but somehow the photos for black looks leaner and somehow nicer! I think I’m bit confused which one is better for me at this point!

Wife’s DD40 next to her future (someday) addition rose gold Daytona :

My personal BLRO on jubilee next to the new BLRO on oyster. For those of us who own the original BLNR as well, I am assuming we can mix and match the bracelets so no need for a new purchase here.

The two tone Explorer was amazing in person. Seriously too bad they don’t offer it in 39.

The black Exp 2, was my personal favorite :

And the tommy bahama datejust ( I like calling it that), is just beautiful beautiful beautiful ... again too bad it is in 36.

They don’t have any movements in them.

I must be getting old. I am very much into two tone now. I simply loved this white dial

but man o man, does the black dial in jubilee look good, and at $15.5k MSRP, honestly, an absolute steal if you ask me.

Thank you for sharing the photos of the new models. Very exciting. Out of curiosity, which AD had the viewing? And how does it work, do they call randomly with an invite? Thanks!

I like the rose gold meteorite Daytona very much

And despite the classic 36mm explorer looking small by today’s standards, I think it’s the one to get and looks fantastic

As with any of these dials and especially with gem versions, one thing is clear: the pictures never do justice to these dials and stones. One must resist the urge to decide whether one likes it or not until one sees them in person.

While diamond bezels are not for me, but from the couple that I have bought for my wife in the past and the ones I have seen in person , there is nothing like the sparkling and fire of the diamonds that Rolex uses in its bezels. Beyond beautiful. I would never go aftermarket in these bezels because I have seen them in person and they don’t come anywhere near the factory bezel. Just beautiful.

Wow, thank you for sharing your experience and the pics....

I really like the fluted motif dial in bright blue you posted......wonder if it will pop more in a smooth bezel with a jubilee bracelet?

Amazing shots. Explorer looks awesome. I am just wondering If It has 19mm or 20mm bracelet width.
