It's not my jam. I wouldn't say I "hate it" but to me it's more of a two-tone OP than an Explorer in the traditional sense.

I usually like Federico. in this case I'm almost certain this is spillover from his irritation with the Explorer II

It’s perfect for exploring the dark environments of bank vaults, home safes, and watch boxes

The whole tool watch thing is a myth now. They are luxury watches. A little gold more or less is just another fashion choice. I’m fine with that. There’s nothing special anymore about any of the Rolex “tool” watches. Make gold versions of all them — why not!

Not a fan of two-tone or 36mm . I do think it would look rather sporty on a woman .

Ambivalent.

I thought the crown jumped the shark when the SD went TT (though I’ll admit to digging it somewhat when I tried it on awhile back, but not enough to buy it).

I like black-and-gold tho, so maybe I won’t hate the TT explorer in the metal. Definitely not in the market for one.

At least it’s not a gem-encrusted monstrosity.

Personally I think its quite nice. Not my cup of tea, but why not? Is the Explorer 2 the only watch rolex does not do two tone now? I guess the Deep Sea is not, but the SD is in the same family of chunky divers.

I usually say “hate” is a strong word especially when it comes to watches....

So, I will say that I really, really, really dislike this complete destruction of the Explorer’s authenticity. Beyond that, I don’t think it looks good.

Rolex could have at least made the TT special/different with a white dial TT Explorer. That could have at least left the SS black alone while creating a buzz for the TT.

In the end, why not make the OP in TT and leave the Explorer line alone?

Put the dial and hands in the SS explorer that would make for a handsome watch

I don’t understand the vitriol. It’s not as if they have replaced the SS version with TT. SS still available for purchase! I never see people posting that TT submariners are a disgrace to the heritage of the submariner... I expect this will pave the way for a blue sunburst TT explorer which would be dynamite!

Actually, the two-tone Explorer is one of the more attractive two-tone models for me. I'd buy one.

I dont like it. Rolex only moves have been to increase wrist presence in their watch and adding flash is never desirable. But the reality is, Rolex is getting more and more away from the tool watches they were once and they recognize their audience. In a world where 99% of Rolex owners want to know if its safe to take their watch into a hot tub, or even wind it, or take out of the safe, or want to think about how much $$ it will be worth in x years or should I laser weld this scratch that no one can see, etc..Whelp, Rolex knows its audience and here you go along with he meteorite daytona monstrosities.

I don't dislike the idea of a two-tone Explorer, but I have yet to see a photo where it doesn't look cheap. Brushed gold, as Tudor uses, works much better for watches like this, imo.

Some people get stuck on an issue and can't move on.

So, Rolex makes a watch you don't like.

Suck it up!

I really like it, a lot but not in 36mm, nor the ss. It was a watch I wanted to buy, but at 36mm it's now a pass, and I'm not getting gouged by the secondary market on a 39. Moving on to bigger pastures.

you're an amazing resource,

Boy, I so wish there were a convenient place, where people who gave a flying one, could somehow find all these videos, watch them and comment on them...

Why don't you post your own opinions on the Golden Explorer, why you think it's great or not, instead of just scraping YouTube ? Again.
