A 44mm version of the 372?

As I get to know the Panerai brand, I have fallen in love with the ironic 372 with its Luminor 1950 case, domed crystal, exhibition back, manual wind and simple dial (with 12, 9, 6, 3 visible with no complications or date).

Unfortunately, 47mm is just to big for my wrist. Is there a model with similar characteristics in 44mm?

Another thing about Panerai is that there are way too many model numbers.

Any all help appreciated.

914 - minus the domed crystal, 1950 case (Bettarini case), and exhibition back.

Have you tried one on or are you just going off the measurements?

Look at the Panerai PAM 390.

But since you have a 233, would look more closely at Radiomir models.

372 is big not not much bigger than a 44mm pam

the only thickness is the raised crystal otherwise the case is the same thickness as a bettarini case.

it's made to look big as that is the historic size.

while it may seem reasonable that you have to have a little wrist size to wear a 47mm. i hate it when the big muscular men (like dwayne johnson) only get to wear big watches.

even small fry like me should be able to wear it.

Just going off measurements. The 233, at 44mm I just bought is already significantly larger than my 36mm Rolex DD...perhaps I will get used to the larger size, but wanted to know if there was a comparable model to the 372 in 44mm. Panerai has so many models, I had to ask.

FYI, I just received my 233 and wow, it is a big watch.

While I think I will enjoy wearing it, how that I see how a 44mm fits (non of my work shirts will fit over it), a 47mm is sadly out of the question.

Again my question is there a Panerai that has all the qualities of the 372 in a 44mm, 42mm or 40mm case size?

It’s the 390….but it doesn’t have 1950 case nor the domed crystal

The PAM 390 is a nice watch, but what make the 372 catch my eye are the sandwich dial, the exhibition back, and the the domed crystal (which goes great with the 1950 case).

If Panerai made a 44mm, I think it would sell extremely well. Unfortunately, they seem to be discontinuing the models/features that made them great (all the ones I like have recently been discontinued) , and they seem to be leaning more towards elegance at the expense of ruggedness.

My research is tell me the closest to a 44mm 372 are the 112, 390 and the 914, however none of them have the domed crystal and only some of them have the exhibition back.

Does anyone know what else differentiates these three models? Do any of them have the sandwich dial?

For me, the 372’s case is what I love. It is so organic n alive. 47mm is not huge.. it has very short lugs. It's designed to look n wear large, it’s Panerai’s DNA.

You need to try it on in person to appreciate it. Be quick if you want a new watch.. it’s discontinued.

The one with plastic crystal wears much lighter that the sapphire.

As I have been unable to find an acceptable 44mm alternative to the 372, it looks like I have to get comfortable with the 47mm size.

My 44mm 233 seems so large, but the 372 is iconic and irreplaceable and only available in 47mm.

Do any of the experts know what years the 372 had a plexiglass crystal and what years (if any) it came with a sapphire crystal?
