Don't ignore Freeport McMoran (FCX) either; their not insignificant gold production gives them pretty much the lowest cost/lb of copper in the industry.

Definitely fun talking with all the shop owners and other collectors you see when making your own purchases.
Very nice collection 👍🏽

Still seems cheaper than getting these cards from packs as kids. I've spent about $500 in the past few weeks and my collection is far more impressive than what I had as a kid I feel like.
Are you selling them on ebay ? My 14 year old son would mind liquidating his collection to put towards his car fund.

I actually just downloaded an app called TCG player which gives you market prices by taking pictures. Dealers offer 60-75% of mid price. After trying to sell single cards, I'm letting a pro handle my collection. Selling a collection individually would be a nightmare. Although if he used eBay to look up prices accurately and market his cards properly, the skills learned in the process would be beneficial if he wanted to flip cheap items he finds locally to make money. I started doing it with RC cars around his age and have my own business selling second hand goods now so I would definitely encourage him to "fight for every dollar" personally its just not worth my time selling individually.

I think it would be a decent time to buy right now.
