How to Remove the Reddish Tarnish from the Yellow Gold Centre Links
Had this piece BLUE TT Submariner.
Worn only once and kept in a safe for years (all stickers intact). However the Yellow Gold center links (not covered by stickers) had tarnished i.e. reddish at some parts 1. How do I remove these tarnish ? I checked some YouTube videos on Cape Cod but it seems very abrasive (used for Steel polish) 2. Toothpaste method does not work Help....... any advise Checked with RSC I need to send in for servicing and they will fix it as warranty is already over. |

You have a few choices
1.Take all of the stickers off and Wear it the tarnish will remove with wear do not use toothpaste or cape cod on the watch 2.leave it as it is do not touch it with anything especially a cape cod and keep its an origional untouched example of a 2 tone sub. 3. Send it for service will come back as new condition..The RSC will not use a cape cod they will use Rolex Maģic I would do number 3 then number 1 life is too short not to wear such a fine watch Take the stickers off before you send to RSC put them in a bag as you won't get them back |

Toothpaste method? Man, that watch wants to be worn. Why service it for the safe? You'll have lost already, and there's nothing wrong with it. I'm at a loss.

id wear it too. i dont know if that model is really an investment type piece you would get more from enjoying it and the tarnish issue would resolve itself with wear and no stickers.

Why are you keeping it tucked away in a safe? They are meant to be worn and enjoyed.

Why service it, if the destination is the safe? Just wear it

Ultrasonic cleanse will remove it. No need to polish it.

I’m going to pile on here and agree with everyone else. Wear it. It’s a beautiful piece and shouldn’t be locked away in a safe. Either wear it, or sell it.

A small patch of Cape Cod cloth will easily remove it. Cover the brushed steel sections with blue painters tape so you don't shine them up inadvertently.

Just wear it, it’s not a Paul Newman Daytona.

Gold does not tarnish.
Leave it as is in the safe

This is 18Kt gold - why would it tarnish inside a storage box?
This looks to be a modern ceramic piece - never seen gold tarnish like that on modern versions. |

Is this post a joke?
Yes gold alloy does oxidize. I would leave it alone (part of the charm of this piece), you will screw it up if you attempt to polish it. |

Clean it as you ordinarily would.
Use a few drops of liquid dish soap in a bowl, clean with a soft brush, dry with a micro-fiber cloth.

There are some handkerchiefs that the jewelers use to polish silver, I used it in a Rolex 1601 TT that was that way and it worked.

I’m positive a jeweler can clean this up for you with a silver polishing rag. If you dont want to tamper with it yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do... if you don’t want to wear it thats your choice, and if you do then thats your choice too.

Thank you all for the advice and tips.
I bought this Polishing Cloth for Jewelry and tried it on one old oxidized gold pendent (some parts reddish like the TT SUB) - works like a charm ! I will try this on the SUB one of these days - stay tuned for updates |

When it comes back from the RSC, it will be all shiny again - including the dull gold PCL’s. Then you can return it to the safe and not worry as you won’t see it again for a few more years.
