Speedmaster or Oyster Perpetual 39?
I know these posts get old, but I'm deciding between a new Speedmaster or a new 114300 Rhodium.
The facts:

go speedy. if you’ve only got room for two, don’t be redundant with time/date.

The FOIS is a very cool watch, the OP just doesn't do much for me to be honest.

I own both. My OP gets MUCH more wrist time than the speedy. Not even close. If I need to be active, wet, or dressed down, the OP does it all; and it has no problem dressing up a bit either.

Not a fan of new/modern Rolex watches on leather. So get the speedmaster. Looks much much much MUCH better.

I don't like the size of the Speedmaster hence the OP. I also feel the OP is better made.

If your wrists can handle it, definately the Speedy. I had one, but the shape of my wrists made the watch sit awkwardly so I returned it.

Rolex all the way, I prefer rather the blue OP39, but that is just me.

Swerve: I ended up getting a new Air-King since it matches the case size and vibe of my 116710LN. I'll throw it on a black Everest rubber strap and call it a day.
Thanks for the input, everyone |

I have a 116710 and a white OP39. You will not regret the 114300. Such a great watch!

Rhodium. No. Go speedy. Black or white OP. 100% fire. Absolutely fell in love with Black. Not in market but it is so nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have both the OP rhodium dial and the Speedmaster CK2998.
I think you can’t got wrong with either. OP is great for all occasions. Speedmaster is has lots of history and a good conversation piece. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks everyone. I just didn't connect with the Speedmaster, so I ended up going with an 116900. It's got everything I wanted in the 114300, plus no PCLs, a Faraday cage, and a matching case size with my 116710LN. In the end, it was a no-brainer for me.

@Fuerdai
The model was introduced in 1931. One OP was in 1953 on Mt. Everest. |

Congrats on your Air King.
For folks in the same situation, I'd recommend the Speedy rather than the OP39. Although I really like the white OP39, I find the white Speedy more satisfying on the wrist and I use the chrono, so that's the one I picked. Bought it on the dressy croc strap and deployant, ordered the bracelet separately (with micro adjustable clasp). |
