Help A NATO Noob (DSOTM & Omega NATO)
I have experience changing straps, but have never dealt with NATOs.
I have a DSOTM Speedmaster, and while visiting the Omega boutique in Rome, I impulse purchased an Omega NATO. I have done some searches on various forums, and I saw some discussions about the possibility of needing different, curved spring bars than currently installed on the watch. Is that true? I don't want to risk this ceramic watch falling to the ground and breaking. Any other tips or issues to keep in mind? |

Correct me if I wrong, but omega does use slightly longer springbars on their moon watches for strap models as was the case with my speedy tuesday. So, I believe you should be fine with NATO as your dsotm comes on a strap. The omega boutique gave my cousin longer, none curved spring bars for his orange PO 43.5 when he tried out a NATO band. I would be very careful when changing spring bars around the ceramic as we have seen cases of chipped and broken lugs. Good luck and post some pictures of your new strap.

I have never had an issue with the NATO straps on my Speed Masters. I have owned a GSOTM but never went NATO. I own a 44.25 Speed Master now and the OEM NATO works great with just the spring bars that are on the bracelet.

Speedy Big Box set comes with thicker and longer spring bars x 4 pcs which for the use of Nato and Velcro. The spring bar with the bracelet is slightly thinner and shorter.

I have a DSOTM on an OEM NATO, when I bought the strap I asked Omega UK that very question and they said just use the springbars that are on the watch and dont change them.
