Looks as if Rolex has lost the record for "Deepest dive watch ever"

Omega have shown the world a new watch that can plumb an incredible depth of 15000m. The Rolex Deep Sea challenger reaches 12000m.

The deepest part of the ocean is 11,000 meters; anything more than that is superfluous.

I find it funny Omega certified the watch to 15,000 meters.

Since technically it can’t be certifiable?

As stated by Larry.. 11000 meters is the deepest part of the Ocean.
How can one certify 15K meters if you can dive to 15K Meters ?

I really like the design, waiting on more details like the size and all I truly hope it's a huge watch.

That just ruins it for me for whatever reason? Like saying “Uber” deep?

I dig the colors; make it in a more manageable size and I might look again.

Agree, I love the color. Make it thinner, keep off the he valve and the crown guards, it’s mine.

I noticed from the case back that it has been certified by the Classification Society DNV-GL (Det Norsk Veritas-Germaniser Lloyd).
However, 15,00 meters? Somewhat redundant, no?

I agree with the He valve. I wish they would keep them off all dive watches. I know it has a purpose, but seems like a very tiny fraction of customers really have a legitimate need for it.

I would totally get this if/when it is in production..
it is a great accomplishment ... but it bothers me to end that Omega's only relevance lately seems to be as a reference frame for Rolex...

I was very excited when I saw this.
There is enough interest for Omega to make one. I'd like to see it in person.

a cool picture of Don Walsh and the new record holder. Regardless of the Rolex-Omega rivalry, this is a cool moment for exploration!

omega has done a nice job , would like to see a slimmer version as long as the Matt tool Finnish is left and they don’t go down the shiny two tone sea dweller route

I believe the difference is being certified to 15000 meters and being tested at 15000 meters.

Sent from the most complicated pocket watch in history... a cell phone.
