Notebook Recommendations?

Before I start to age and begin forgetting things (too late already started - LoL) I want to get back into the habit of writing things down. Recently I have come across some old notebooks and am amazed at the detailed notes I used to take on all sorts of subjects. So with that being said, I am seeking recommendations on a good notebook for daily note taking. The notebook would be used for taking business notes as well as personal notes.

Is there a particular brand notebook that you "must have"?

-Frankie

P.S. In case anyone is confused I am referring to notebooks as in the paper ones, not the technical gadgets also known as laptops/netbooks

Moleskines can be annoyingly expensive, but one day, I went out and bought a few. They're very comfortable to write on! I also suggest you look into them.

Moleskine!!

But cover them in a nice leather cover from www.renaissance-art.com!

I have taken them all over the world in my back jeans pocket with not issue. But you must cover them in leather.

I've got one from this mob.
http://www.esford.com/exoticspaper.htm

The paper is quite good, no feathering / bleach to the next page.
A bit pricey but they got good leather there.

There is a very famous one with an orange cover.

The paper is great. It is French. Sorry I forgot the name.

It also comes in black.

I'm sure you know what I mean.................

Thanks for the lead, Richard. I've used Moleskines for a few years now. Love the paper and durability. My two favorites are the pocket cahiers, and the 5 x 8-1/4 ruled, 240 page notebooks. I use them everyday.

The addition of one of those leather covers will make the package complete.

Very reasonable prices and extra good workmanship. I own many of their products. I also love they way they develop a nice patina! They will last for decades.

I use these notebooks exclusively . . . www.myndology.com They are so versatile. You run out of paper, you slip it out and put in a refill. You can move pages around since the paper slips off the discs and you can place it wherever you like in the notebook. Also, the notebooks are all available in various sizes and configurations.

I love clairefontain, that paper is so wonderful to write on!
I used to be a Moleskine fan but since they have moved production to China I find the paper quality hit and miss!

I purchased to identical un rulled moleskins last year, one was the moleskine of old, lovely to write on the other made the ink feather badly and it had terrible bleed through.

Since I use journals for work I need consistancy so a friend put me onto clairefontaine and I have not looked back! Now if they would only make the paper the same wonderful cream of Moleskine

I see you use squared paper Richard! There is something to be said about people that use squared paper, but I don't know exactly what that is. In all seriousness though, a few very bright minded people that I know, strictly use squared paper. I have to say that I think that squared is beginning to grow on me. Looks to be much more relaxed to write on instead of having to keep within the straight lines.

UPDATE: I pulled the trigger on a Moleskine Large Squared Notebook. Should have it by Wednesday

I will post some feedback and share my thoughts once I get it.

Now I just need to get a fine writing instrument!

Now I'm somewhat concerned, and a bit dismayed. I didn't realize this had happened... I don't mind where a product is produced, as long as it maintains the qualities for which I chose in the first place.

I am a few pages in to my next to last book from a case lot. I have one shrink wrapped book remaining. I'm wondering if I am going to have to start looking all over again...

Ian, thanks for the heads up.
