Killer Elite watch

Watched Killer Elite last night and Robert De Niro had a watch on that looked like a Submariner. Anyone else see this yet?

(Worth seeing imo. Actioner set in 1980 that relies on some cringeworthy raw action instead of big explosions for entertainment.)

Quite good, not been able to clock the watch but assume Omega or Rolex..

Also saw Omega were credited in the Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy Credits.

It appeared that De Niro was wearing a vintage sub and Jason Stathim (sp?) was also wearing a sub. Makes sense as they were popular amount special forces.

don't quote me but i think deniro had on a sea-dweller 1665. the beginning scene in south america he checks the time while eating the tacos and the superdome t-39 is unmistakable.

statham looks to be wearing a 1680 because in a few scenes the top hat of the t-127 is also unmistakable.

fun movie to watch, but as soon as i saw rolex, every time the actors were on screen i was checking their wrists! haha

I read the watches on most actor's wrist in movies are props and not the real deal due to the cost of lost/replacement? Any truth to this?

I've heard that too. I think it is true sometimes. Maybe it has to do with budgets or endorsements.

Another reason for a prop could be that on a real functional Rolex the crown would have to be pulled out since a running watch would mess up the time line (if they don't set it after every take). Well maybe not, just a theory.

Entertaining movie. Fight scenes were exaggerated. Based on a true story. Google Sir Ranulph Feinnes. Cousin of actors Ray Fiennes and Joseph Fiennes. Ex-SAS. Went to Sandhurst. Great explorer. Walked from pole to pole. Climbed Everest. I think he would be a great Rolex brand ambassador but he is a colorful character. Blew up a hotel during the making of a film. Other events in his life that may be politically incorrect to some. Nevertheless, certainly lives life to the fullest. Hard as nails bloke. A younger Mike Hoare.

I read somewhere (likely TRF) that both Deniro and Statham wore both 1680s and 5513s. Kind of a throwback to the days of Bond and his Sub.

Bumping a 7 year old thread... but I just watched this move for the first time after scanning Netflix last night. First thing I noticed were the Rolex’s they were wearing. Decent movie compared to what else was available, surprised I had never heard or seen it before.

There's lots of truth to this. In a weird turn of events, Ben Affleck wears a Deepsea prop watch(very loose) in Argo a movie which is otherwise period correct.
However there are cases in which the watch wasn't a prop and looked marvelous.
In the movie Knight and Day, Cameron Diaz rocks a five digit ss Submariner and it looks amazing on her. It can be seen throughout the movie pretty clearly.
