So...What is It?
No, I don't mean the watch itself. But that one special thing, no matter how minor, that pleases your eye?
Maybe something you never noticed in the many aspects of your favorite vintage piece. What got me thinking about this topic was a wristshot I just snapped for WRUW - and as I looked closer it dawned on me. The reason I like the older 1803's with wide indices is how the hands echo the hour marks. If it hadn't been for glinting sunset side lighting I might not have noticed for a long time. So what is it about your favorite Vintage Rolex that makes it special to you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When I look at my 6426 through polarized lenses, the dial contrast is one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. And its a unique experience that noone really gets to enjoy but me.

Great thread idea, really got me thinking. I couldn't choose just one watch and one element.
My 1603 is technically my most mundane Rolex, but the details never cease to amaze me and bring the watch screaming to life. The sunburst dial looks fantastic in almost any light, the secondary grooves on the engine-turned bezel are fascinating, and when the light reflects off of the hour markers just right one can see the brushed pattern's little explosions of color. Some of the most unsung features of the 1016 are the dark, articulated shadows that form under the hands in bright sunshine and just how integrated the oyster bracelet is with the case, there is an elegant flow from one to another, they look almost unified. In my recent rediscovery of my TOG I notice how it has an amazing high-polished case that reflects the color around it like a mirror, under a brilliant blue sky makes the watch feel unexpectedly patriotic. The gold 3-6-9 hour markers on my 1601 look like a combination of Hershey's miniatures and Lincoln Logs, both remind me of my youth, takes me back to a summer day in 1970 with my dad where I remember him buying me my first baseball mitt. |

Lovely collection and photos there Speedo. A 1675 GMT would be a perfect addition!
