EBay Find

Picked this up in an ebay auction at a great price last week.

Arrived yesterday. 1963 serial number.

Case has obviously been over polished and heavily used, but both the dauphine hands and roof-top stick indices that protrude out over the pie pan edge are uncommon.

It's running accurately too.

Thanks, much appreciated - here it is again my preferred way, with a T-21 crystal.

Dauphnie or Alpha Hands?????

Not to put too fine a point on it but, aren't those Alpha hands. I thought Dauphine hands looked like this: E.g short end protrudes out a little from the hole in the dial????

I have been looking for a set of Alpha hands for a 1966 1625. Darn hard to find. Great find BTW!!

I've only seen them referred to as 'Dauphine' hands'. They seem to be more common on DateJust than Day-Date - for instance browse through the results of searching 'dauphine' in the Rolex sale forum:

https://www.rolexforums.com/search.p...rchid=17152939

I'm not familiar with the hands in your picture, so don't have an alternate name to suggest.

All I can tell you is to do a Google for Rolex Alpha hands and then do the same thing for Dauphine hands and see what the results are.

Here is an article that is just the tip of the ice berg on this subject

https://www.chrono-shop.net/en/7202-...1570-1530.html

Personally, I prefer the Alpha Hands

Please do the Goggles and then let me know what you think.

Thanks

As with most everything else Rolex, there is no definitive answer. The convention here and on VRF/VRM seems to be to refer to these hands as 'dauphine'. So if that is the style you are looking for, that is the name I would use in this community.

If you are looking for a set of them, I would suggest placing a WTB for dauphine hands on VRM specifying the reference and movement caliber of the watch, then see what you are offered.

Hope you find them.
