Rolex Red Submariner 1680 Mark IV Dial question
I’m very new to the forum. The reason I joined is to learn and purslane my first Rolex. I found a Rolex Red Submariner 1680 Mark IV Dial for around $12000. It doesn’t have papers or a box which is one reason for the price. To me the price is low which makes me try to determine why. In my opinion the top hat was replaced. Is this common. Maybe I’m way off base. Just learning.

Agreed, that seems oddly low - suspiciously low.
If you post photos, that will help to understand what is going on. I found a similar Red 1680 Mark IV at a random dealer. I was very close to pulling the trigger, posted photos on TRF, and quickly found out it was not 'all original' as the dealer had claimed. |

Welcome. Lots of info about Reds on DRSD - I suggest you read and digest before progressing any further, and certainly before hovering a finger over any 'red' buttons...
Then post any pics / descriptions of any potential purchases on here, and you'll get a raft of useful comments / feedback. That's what I did before acquiring my 1680 back in 2013, looked at quite a few, some very nice, some very average, some truly awful. In the end I bit the bullet, upped my budget and bought one from Jacek at HQ Milton. Never regretted it. |

Something’s got to be dodgy with a red sub at that price.

Couldn’t agree more with this...there ARE most definitely excellent deals still to be found...if possible, post some pics, if it’s junk, you’ll be steered in the right direction.

Picts or it didn't happen. $12K is roughly half of market...if it's legit, that's a hell of a find.
