Help with choosing a running watch

Can anyone recommend a runners watch for me. My son runs cross country and I'm looking for a basic runners watch. All I really need it to do is give:

Time
Distance
Lap Time (per mile)
Pace

I don't need heart rate or anything fancier than that. He wears a mechanical watch as a daily so this would be used only for running at practice and meets.

I would like to keep the cost at $150 or below. Thanks in advance

I’ve been wearing Garmin Fenix series for years. You can get a 2 series refurbished on Amazon for $140. It has a lot more functions too, skiing, swimming, etc.

Distance and pace would imply either done of step counting (less accurate) or gps (more accurate). There are a ton of options out there. Fitbit, Timex Ironman GPS, Polar GPS, Garmin Foreunner, Suunto Ambit 3.
I have owned all of the above and would say you can’t really go wrong with the Garmin or Suunto.

Thank you for the responses.

I should have clarified that I am looking for a GPS-enabled devise and one that does not need to be paired with a phone in any way.

My old run watch was a basic Garmin Forerunner with GPS. It recently died on my but it served my purpose while it worked. That Fenix 2 looks like a good one. I'm a little hesitant to buy refurbished, but could be convinced...

My brother buys all of his refurbished and he’s never had a problem. He runs trail marathons in the mountains and loves the reliability. People like me trade up every year for the fancy new features, he just needs to track his stats. I also have a bit of a watch habit

I prefer the Garmin Vivoactive 1. Not only is it a GPS running watch but can be used for biking, swimming, golfing and has a step counter.

Yeah I'm leaning in this direction. My old run watch was the Forerunner 15, but like I said it took a crap and died. Hopefully this new version lasts longer. Also was surprised how long my old Forerunner took to lock onto GPS sometimes. From what I hear that is still an issue with the new ones.

I use my phone also when running or walking. Typically I use the MapMyRun app, which works great. However, my son has to be in uniform and can't carry his phone so it needs to be a simple easy-to-use wearable with GPS. Sounds like u may be going down the Garmin path yet again. For the price if he gets to years out of it, that would be fine.
