Very interesting thread - I had no idea!
Thanks to the OP - and also Tom, whose enthusiasm for Daytonas is starting to rub off on me! |

Any Daytona owners noticing this size difference every time you look at different models? I always do!

Reminds me of "Cool Hand Luke" - "No man can eat 50 eggs!" RIGHT after Paul Newman DID it...

The other day and tonight I was looking at a white dial SS Daytona with a black dialled version next to it. I know that they are the same size but the black dial looked smaller and this made the bezel look bigger to me!
I know this is a trick of the eye, but has anyone else noticed how different dials appear to change the proportions of a watch? |

Platona, WG/RG Daytona have thicker lugs and crown guards, and wider case at the pushers. Definitely bigger than SS and YG.

Asymmetric & Symmetric Daytona
This is a great, fun and informative thread
There are two different Daytona watchcases. Thank you Vaxe: 1. = YG and TT share the same case and bezel font as the SS. 2. = Pt, RG, and WG have the newer case with the curved lugs and thicker guards. Thank you Fisfirider: The case difference of a PM Daytona can most easily be seen above the pushers. The PM case extends out from the bezel more than on the SS,YG & TT case. 5e2b5988-d0fa-42e4-9f5b-964fcd26f873_zpsf27nc6g4.jpg I prefer to call them Asymmetric & Symmetric. Very simple, download the Rolex Daytona App: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/role...696058462?mt=8 http://www.rolex.com/footer/links/do.../ipad-app.html YG, TT and SS = Asymmetric watchcase Pt, RG, and WG = Symmetric watchcase Asymmetric watchcase (YG, TT and SS) Lugs on the crown side (3 hours) are much much thinner then the 9 hours side. |

Rolex says ....
The Daytona's design is an exercise in perfectly symmetry.
Its screw-down pushers on each side of the crown are COUNTERBALANCED by the slightly wider lugs on the opposite of the case, MAINTAINING AESTHETIC BALANCE. |

Holy moly. THIS.
I was confusing lugs with pushers this whoooole time. Super interesting info, I had NO idea! My OCD will now lock onto this EVERY time I see a fellow Dayto'wner in the wild. And you guys are such enablers. Your passions make me want MORE watches. |

I'm referring to the timing of his post and that he still doesn't see there's a difference after the entire thread has been read with obvious conclusive proof! I know what you mean though 👍

As I'm about to upgrade from SS Daytona to WG Daytona, I thought I'd reignite this thread as it is very interesting to Daytona owners IMO.

Don't the lugs on the PM Daytonas (RG/PT/WG) also taper down towards the wrist "sides" more than SS/YG/TT? Could be wrong.

That's even better then giving slightly more wrist presence.

I think I'm right in saying that all Daytona's manufactured after 2015 have the triangle marked bezel. I know from experience that the T/T Daytona 2016 model number 116503 has the triangle marked bezel. The T/T Daytona that was manufactured before 2016 model number 116523 was marked with dots
