Men - 34MM watches
Men - what 34MM watch do you have, or did you have? If you've now got a bigger size 36 40, would you ever go back? or are 34mm still ok for men? Deciding on a OP Date old model which is 34mm

To each their own, but for me a 34mm is too small for my liking.
I prefer 40-42mm. YMMV. |

I think it all depends on one's wrist.
Mine is 6.5. I went from a 36mm, to now a 40mm Rolex, and 43 mm Breitling. I still like the 36mm size and believe still looks good on me but frankly prefer the 40mm sub sir look and feel on wrist. For me personally, can never see myself wearing a 34mm as that is just way too small for my liking. |

I think its tad bit small. 36mm is the smallest i would go. I would stick to the 39mm+ range.

I still wear my Air-King all the time and have no problem with it being smaller than my other watches. You do notice it at first but after a while it makes no difference whatsoever!

is that air king 34mm? and does 34mm include the bezel or just dial? Plain/Domed Bezel goes well with that model

It all depends on the size of your wrist.

Irrespective of the wrist size, I think in today's time and age 34mm for a men's watch is considered small!

I like 34mm watches, I have 6.5'' wrists so can wear anything up to 42mm but prefer smaller sizes.

40mm to 42mm is the sweet spot for me. I have a bigger wrist-7.5 inches. 36mm is about as small as I would do. Most DD are 36mm as are DJ. It comes down to personal preference. 36mm was the norm for many many years.

I wear them all! My oysterdate 34mm, my datejust and oysterquartz 36mm, and my GMT Pepsi 40mm!

I wore my TT 34mm OP for ten years. Never thought the watch looked small. In 2012 I bought a GMT and wore it all the time. 2015 I picked up 3 40mm's.
I had a couple of links taken out of the OP and my wife now wears it all the time. See my avatar. Given my recent purchases I guess you could say I'm not going back.

I'd try it first. The older case may seem a lot smaller than the newer 34mm Supercase.
My first love was an Air King. But comparing that to a new Tudor 34mm 12300, the Tudor seemed way way too small. 34mm is 34mm, but case and bracelet have a lot to do with the whole feel and look. |

Have a 6.5" wrist, would have no issue with 34mm watch.

I have a 7.25 wrist and wear a vintage 34mm Air King. No one is going to look at your wrist and think/notice/care your watch is too small. For me, watch size only matters in terms of legibility.

The watch I mostly use is a 36mm, not too small, and it's a super confortable size. I don't have any 34mm watch.
Although I think the "Gold Standard" for a sports watch regarding proportions is 40mm. |

I think it's all in your head most of the time. I wore a 36mm watch for years, now wear a 38mm chronograph, a 40mm, and a 44mm most of the time. My dress watch is still an elegant 36mm.
They all wear fine on my 7.5" wrist and my 6'2" frame. The only thing anyone ever says is "nice watch". If I wanted a 34mm AirKing, I'd rock it without reservation. If anything, people wear watches far too large for their wrists and they often look a bit ridiculous. The watch forums are full of photos with watches that clearly are bigger (longer) than the wrists they are draped on, does anyone say anything? Rarely. We've all be brainwashed.;) I like the IWC BP, but it is just too big. I try one on every year or so like something is going to have changed. LOL. It's not technically too large, I think it just looks silly on my wrist. If I was Arnold Schwarzenegger with a very broad wrist, it would be a different story. Having said that, it's just one man's opinion. Get whatever you want and rock it!

I forgot one point. Up close the difference between 34 and 38 and 40 looks significant, but if you take a photo from 6 feet away of your whole body, it's hardly noticable, even when you're looking for it.

36mm is the smallest I'd wear. It's the perfect size for me.

For me 36mm is the smallest watch I'd wear. My sweet spot is my 39mm Explorer. It looks perfect.

I'm perfectly happy with 34 mm on my 7" wrist. I've tried on larger watches, but just don't like the feel. I think one factor is that my watch always slips under my shirt cuff with no fuss.

It depends I guess. A few months ago I was on the larger side and a 34mm was out of the question. I shed a few pounds (40) and a 34mm suddenly doesn't look that small.

Have a Daytona, had a Sub. When I had the sub I'd wear a SS Airking with suits. Discrete and elegant.
Hope to get a black face Airking in the near future for suit wear. Wrist is 7.5. |
