One owner 1968 GMT-MASTER
Haven't been on the forum in a long time (sorry) but wanted to ask what you think a one owner from new, totally pristine 1968 GMT-MASTER might be worth. The watch in question has been serviced by Rolex, but they were instructed not to touch the bezel, glass, etc. etc., they were simply to do a mechanical service.
The watch is just about perfect in every way -- one owner from new, original box and papers and tag, bezel un-faded, very lightly worn, no scratches etc. etc. Sorry, I only took one photo ... think I'm going to buy it. |

Well someone has changed the dial at some stage. That is not original to s 1968 watch.

Look like white gold markers. Shouldn't be there until 16750 transition model...

Service dial, hands, insert and doesn't look to be original bracelet either. Need more pics to have a better idea.

Thanks for the valuable input everyone. I'll do some more research, snap a few more photos, and report back.

I believe the correct, not too familiar with the early GMT's, the correct bracelet for a 68' would be a rivet 7206. That looks more like a 78360 with some stretch to me. It was an optional replacement for the GMT's, but not what came from the factory.

Box isn't original either.

Only problem is that it is a 1675. A 16750 from 1986 stacks the hands differently from a 1675.
This is a nice 1675 with a lot of service parts. |

I'm with you guys on this, it's a little fishy. I just bought a one owner B/P 1675 from 1970 and it's NOTHING like that. The box here appears to be a later model to Springers point, and that is definitely the wrong dial (gold markers). The bracelet I have for mine is a 7836 folded link, which I think was also used.

The best part is that it is being sold as a one owner all original watch. Some sellers are either uneducated or unscrupulous. In this case it's the latter. OP, tell seller and I would like to know how he responds.

Are all 1675 replacement dials matte luminova dials and NOT, Never dials that have white gold surrounds?
Thank you. I am surprised, I have always thought white gold surrounds are available as replacement dials for 1675s. |

Sorry for wasting your time guys; my dyslexic jeweler told me it's a 1968 (at least, that's what I thought I heard), but I double-checked with him and it is in fact a 1986. You guys know your watches!! Maybe I'll start a new thread since my original question remains valid.
