Tudor Snowflake Submariner Bezel Insert History

I am curious as to the bezel insert history of tudor submariners. Did the vintage tudor subs basically mirror the vintage rolex sub bezel inserts? Any comments are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Basically the same. We do however see mk3 inserts from the early 70’s on the last batches of snowflakes with 15xxx serial which is kind of odd. Guess they were just emptying the unused inventory.

Here is another question to add to this... Are the insert colours different between early blue snowflakes and later ones? It seems that the 7016, 7021 versions had a darker navy blue insert and the later 9411 and newer versions had a brighter more royal blue insert. Is it just me eyes playing tricks or is this the case?

Great question. It’s very hard to tell with 7021 and 7016 References but I think the 9411 and 9410 are actually darker than 7021 and 7016 bezel inserts.

Cheers

Hi All,

digging up this old thread. Is there a topic on RF that focuses on blue insert types? I'd like to change the (possibly) service on my blue SF for a genuine one, but this is confusing...

Thank you!

Paul

Basically the same terminology. Depending on year on your watch the font should correlate.

Thank you for your answer, are you saying that there is a parallel genealogy between black and blue inserts?

Thank you!

Thanks for your help, much appreciated :)

Which resource would you then kindly recommend to get schooled on black inserts, please? There's a lot of information scattered across this forum, has this already been compiled in an online location somewhere to remove any ambiguities?

Thank you!
(sorry for the noob question)

I would handle as many watches ad possible and talk to other collectors and deslers that you trust. It is not rocket science.
