Replacement 1680 Bezel Insert

Besides a genuine, aged 1680 bezel insert, is there a really good replacement and how do I know with all of the variants out there?

I was curious about this too for a later model 168000. Mine has a few scratches and I'd be interested in dressing it up a bit, but the cost for authentic replacements is really high, imo.

So much info online about Sub inserts, but if you're simply looking for a replacement, Rolex will still sell you one, as long as they install it for you at an RSC. It's be a thin-font insert with a luminova pearl.

Now, if you're looking for a vintage, period-correct insert with a tritium pearl, that's a different story.

Just a random thought, but what if you removed the insert prior to sending it in. I wonder if they'd replace it without a 'trade-in' or what the policy is on that?

I personally don't have any thoughts regarding 'resale' on my watch; I've owned it too long to part with it now. But I would like the option to be able put it back together as 'original' if/when the time came.

Just pop the bezel off and take the watch into a RSC and say you lost the bezel. They will sell you a new replacement one.
