Icon5 Oyster Perpetual datejust 1957 - Advice

Hi guys, a few questions about my fathers watch

I just found this in one of my drawers that was my fathers, left to me when he died in 1997. I probably researched it then and decided against selling it, not sure if it was genuine. I have a receipt and guarantee from a Swiss Retailer dated 1965

The date I found on one of the many sites with appropriate lists

It is very dirty but I managed to see both the 2 engraved identity numbers.

My real concern is that the winder sticks out about 2mm from the case, that clearly is not right.

I would be interested in your experienced opinion of its condition.

The crown is supposed to screw down on the case like a bottle cap to make it watertight.
If it doesn't, the threads may be worn out or stripped.

Its not from 1957, more like the 1965 that you found on the receipt based on the style of the hands and dial.

Based on that pic I think it's original but worn. It would be worth repairing and hopefully nothing major is wrong with it. Have a Rolex experienced watchmaker go over it and give you an estimate to get it back to usable.

The serial number check on BeckerTime shows 1956

It depends on the number of digits. If the serial number is 6 digits then yes its from the 50s, if it is 7 digits then its from the 60s. See the link below. Most likely its late 1964 which is right in line with the receipt that you found.
