Grey market prices (Sky Dweller) seem to be going down...

I track watch prices daily via a Chrono24 mailing list , and over the last few weeks Sky Dweller prices on Chrono24 seem to have dropped around 10% across the board, a particular example being blue Sky Dwellers sold as unworn. https://www.chrono24.ch/rolex/sky-dw...rm=AdImageLink

I think we may be seeing a peak and gradual easing of the insane pricing of the last months, so if you were thinking of dumping a boatload of cash on that watch you can't find at retail then it may be worth holding off a few more weeks to see if it represents something tangible and market-wide.

Maybe, but so many factors impact this. Daily/Weekly/Monthly trends and all the hidden costs also impact the sales. Keep us posted.

So asking prices have dropped?

Perhaps sellers are motivated before the holidays. Your data shows nothing other than a transitory blip

No, we've now been reduced to the daily market post. If OP waits long enough maybe it hits 14,500.

31k for a Steele skydweller on oyster seems like a bargain, you should pull the trigger!

Haven't been following them but I did see a junk metal blue skydweller at 32K yesterday on a banner ad which even made me choke. Bob's I think?
Full gold DD and blue subs for another 4k!
Nice dial but count me out!!!

But on these boards I think there are a lot of flippers, grey dealers, deluded people who think their watch is an investment/retirement nest egg, people who overpaid on the grey market, people who feel special because they have a valuable watch - albeit a mass produced watch - classic bubble psychology. People ignore the worldwide pandemic and the government response and think these shortages will just continue and prices will just continue upwards and upwards. They are emotionally invested in this. Mention of reality can provoke a hostile response - how dare you suggest the price of a second hand watch can be found for a lower price this month than last month! It is very strange to me. This behaviour/thinking is not just seen with Rolex watches. The shortages and price increases are not just affecting Rolex watches. Normal business will resume, eventually, - in my opinion.

Very likely you are tracking the prices in Swiss Francs and are looking at listings in USD or Euro.

What you might see is fluctuation in exchange rates. Chrono sometimes uses weird updates and exchange rates. Always have a look at the listings in their original currency. The prices might not have changed at all, just the Swiss franc might have gained vs these other currencies….

xrole see how the Swiss franc performed vs the euro, the Euro has dropped quite a bit vs the Swiss franc

Here is the chart of my SkyDweller in my collection from Chrono24 price in AED, fixed exchange rate to the USD

I think it’s interesting that people think that these 2015-2021 references are some amazing hot investment that will never go down to the moon meme hodl but almost everything before that was trash except for Newman Daytona. The obvious short sightedness. All these millennials with money who weren’t investing before the great Bush recession.

I was thinking about this phenomenon watched a YouTuber watch dealer talk about watches as great investments and how there’s no way they can go down in value. Then he pulls out charts showing how “historically” they never lose value. Of course the chart starts at 2017 which was hilarious.

Going to be a good lesson for all these people paying over retail and fiending after these 2015-2021 models. They aren’t anything special. Next year there will be a purple sub called purp hulk then there will be a sprite GMT in 2024. There’s always going to be new stuff and old stuff will go down in value.

Just people caught up in crypto and memestock hype. Social media’s fault.

Just a circus of hustlers making a buck at every opportunity. Nothing wrong with that. Rolex ARE mass produced, when will reality return?
