Authenticity Question Before Purchase - Submariner

I'm selling a car, and a buyer offered a trade for a Rolex Submariner that was inherited from a grandfather. I've done my best homework via the forum to try and authenticate myself, but my results are inconclusive. Would appreciate the input from someone more experienced than I. What do you think? Real or fake?

Based on my forum research, there are a couple of red flags: 1) The hologram sticker has the Rolex logo on it--and I read that it didn't appear on the sticker until after 2002. 2) On the outside of the bracelet, just above the Rolex logo, the spot where you pull to unclasp the bracelet looks different (deep, square) compared to others I've seen.

I'm aware that one of the links on the bracelet is broken.

Thanks for the help.

The black nail polish is probably worth more than that.

font is all wrong. "swiss made" indicates that it would have been a relatively modern sub, not something you'd inherit from a "grandfather" (making it sound vintage).

The epidemic of grandfathers fencing counterfeit goods continues apace.

I really hope in future to read more original and entertaining made-up stories on this sub-forum.

Good Lord, what research could you possibly do that would make anybody think that this could be authentic?

Some fakes may be difficult to determine without close inspection..... this is not one of those.

Yet ANOTHER in the seemingly endless line of "Grandpa's watch" stories.

Must be a Constitutional requirement for posting here.

I am far from an expert but this is one of the easiest-to-spot fakes I have yet seen here.

Im sensing OP is actually the owner of that watch. And is gonna try to sell it. But wanted to use TRF to determine how good, but in this case how bad of a fake it is.

Did anyone actually ever inherit a genuine Submariner from a grandfather?

Inherited watches are almost always suspect if being offered for sale. A conspiracy of grandfathers.

Fit and finish generally isn't disgusting on a real one. Perhaps the top right lug is just underpolished?
